God's Authority IS Complete (Am I Putitng Myself Under It?)
God's authority is complete. Consider these two verses:
“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” -1 John 4:4.
“Behold, I give unto you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” - Luke 10:19
The implication of this truth should reach to my vision of what God is actually doing to rescue me from death.
In the current circumstances, in the body of Jesus, I mostly hear teaching of a fear of man, the devil, and demons... With an asterisk on the fear of the Lord (and even the fear of the Lord being reduced to something other people that don't seem to know the Holy Spirit should somehow have!).
If God is sovereign over all, then wasting any time pointing out any other being as problematic is a complete redirection.
If God is sovereign, then truly the only thing that I have any say in that needs to be born again is ME.
If I get the log out of my eye, then I can help others do the same. But, if my "enemy" (literally anything besides me that needs to change) is the problem, I will always be a victim and never actually get free...
Because of God's complete authority, He can love His enemies and simultaneously not be threatened by them. Can I? Until I can, my enemy is over me, which means God is not my strength.
Even I am an enemy of my own salvation until my thinking changes!
If I need to change myself, I will still forever be the same. No, I need to change my understanding of who God is. That comes from gazing on Him.
Matthew 17:19-21 NKJV — Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
The Tabernacle of David... Or the place where we sit at God's feet and worship and pray... Is the throne room on earth. This is where authority is truly apprehended.
Isaiah 16:5 NKJV — In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”
Gazing on God is where Jesus truly got all of His direction, and the authority to walk it out in the flesh:
John 5:19 NKJV — Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
This also is what made David Israel's greatest authority until Jesus.
Psalm 27:3-6 NKJV — Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
If I don't spend time intentionally seeking the character, presence, and majesty of God prophetically with others... I will never grow in authority. This is what we see manifest in Acts 1 and 2.
