Uncertainty is the Door to Lawlessness
Worry and anxiety are rooted in uncertainty. My restless heart is naturally uncertain.
This is the foundation of the sin in my life, because it is the basic argument in my heart for lawlessness: I should do things to solidify the future for "good."
Sin is lawlessness, or self leadership.
1 John 3:4-6 NKJV — Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Sin begins at the emotional level where I feel stability and purpose depend on me. It ends in the physical actions I take to try to control the world around me instead of trust in God.
Even in "serving God" I can be lawless.
Matthew 7:22-23 NKJV — “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
People don't fall into lawlessness, it's where God finds us all. All people are lawless, naturally. We can only come out of lawlessness, which is the Spirit of antichrist. Jesus put the entire past, present, and future in God's hands. Antichrist tries to take it into his own.
The antichrist spirit is rooted in uncertainty about the future.
The future is certain. It takes faith to rest in it, but the future is guaranteed.
Ephesians 1:3-10 NKJV — Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
This^ is what is happening. It's always been happening, is happening now, and will meet a conclusion soon. That is why uncertainty seems to be at an all-time high!
God is shaking (sifting) everything through what the Bible calls the sieve of futility:
Isaiah 30:28-29 NKJV — His breath is like an overflowing stream, Which reaches up to the neck, To sift the nations with the sieve of futility; And there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, Causing them to err. You shall have a song As in the night when a holy festival is kept, And gladness of heart as when one goes with a flute, To come into the mountain of the LORD, To the Mighty One of Israel.
The only way to escape uncertainty, lawlessness, and the futile striving it brings, is to decide to be certain about God, who is certain about everything else. This is what verse 29 is describing. Isaiah 30:28 describes the sifting God will do, Isaiah 30:29 describes how to successfully endure it.
The future is certain. But that certainty... How it plays out.. rests solely on God. His ways aren't my ways, His thoughts not my thoughts.
God offers a "certainty plan "to me, called the Tabernacle of David, or coming before the throne of God in worship and prayer with other people. I can come into His presence, grab hold of the song that delivers me from futility, and worship the unchanging one. If I do, there are sure things guaranteed to me.
Isaiah 55:1-9 NKJV — “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David. Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people, A leader and commander for the people. Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, And nations who do not know you shall run to you, Because of the LORD your God, And the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.” Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Everything else is uncertain. God is in control. He is doing what He promised. He is sifting the world to see who will trust Him right now.
Many will fight... Futile
Many will flee... Futile
Many will store up... Futile
Many will give up...Futile
Many will pontificate...Futile
Many will blame...Futile
A few will pray in this specific way with others, not telling God how to change everyone else, but simply to gaze on God and listen to His opinions.. wise, stable, fruitful, productive, helpful...
Amos 9:9-15 NKJV — “For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’ “On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the LORD who does this thing. “Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it. I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them,” Says the LORD your God.
