End Time Information
I am finding out more and more that it is hard to talk about night and day prayer in a concise way! There is so much information in the Bible about it...it touches so many ideas. Primarily, it is about Jesus' end-time plan, but it is also about the strength of the Church, spiritual warfare for a region, restoration of cities, a catalyst for wholeheartedness for God… What a night and day worship center touches in a geographic area is as varied as the Psalms. Imagine all the different topics the Psalms speak to, and you'll start to get an idea of how big night and day prayer is in God's plans for this generation.
I love the book of Psalms! For years, I would get the most out of David’s Psalms, because I can relate to David. I know a bit of his story. Recently I am gaining an entirely new appreciation for the other writers of the Psalms. As I research who they were, I am starting to piece together one of the most amazing pictures about night and day prayer and worship, and the context of Psalms coming into existence. This isn't true of all the Psalms, but many of the Psalms came out of David's worship movement, called the “Tabernacle of David” in the Bible. It is an often missed fact that David started a night and day, 24/7 worship center in Jerusalem. David’s tabernacle was so important to the strength of his government and army, it was actually run by his military advisors. A TON of information about this worship center is in the book of 1 Chronicles. Here are just a few of the highlights:
1 Chronicles 9:33 These are the singers, heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites, who lodged in the chambers, and were free from other duties; for they were employed in that work day and night.
1 Chronicles 23:4-6 Of these, twenty-four thousand were to look after the work of the house of the LORD, six thousand were officers and judges, (5) four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand praised the LORD with musical instruments, "which I made," said David, "for giving praise." (6) Also David separated them into divisions among the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
1 Chronicles 25:1 Moreover David and the captains of the army (did you get that?! It was a military thing) separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy (yes, you read that right, they were prophesying to music day and night) with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 28:19 "All this," said David, "the LORD made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans."
This strange plan for night and day worship was given to David by God Himself. David, the undisputed greatest king of Israel ever, thought day and night worship was so important, he laid up all the materials for Solomon to build the temple and continue the worship non-stop. All of the kings of Israel that attempted to keep the sanctuary of David, or even attempted to re-start it were called “good” in the Bible. Their reign was prosperous. The kings that neglected it, were called “unpleasing” to the Lord. Their reign hurt the land and the people!
The 150 Psalms have 7 listed authors, and then there are 50 anonymous Psalms. Moses wrote one of the Psalms, and Solomon wrote two. The remaining 5 authors, including David, Asaph, Korahites (Sons of Korah), Heman, and Ethan were all part of David’s night and day worship movement. These were the prophetic night and day singers of one generation. They wrote a minimum of 98 of the 150 Psalms!
The Bible says that this powerful “Tabernacle of David”…I am starting to think of it as a night and day house of revelation of God’s love, will, and might…will be “rebuilt” before Jesus’ return:
Amos 9:10-12 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, 'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.' (11) "On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; (12) That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name," Says the LORD who does this thing.
God says it is through this Tabernacle of David that His final purpose will be accomplished…for Jews and Gentiles, alike.
THIS IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN RIGHT NOW! Sorry for shouting, but this is one of the greatest signs of the near-return of Jesus happening right in front of us! A night and day worship movement is beginning to cover the earth right now. The new Psalms of the greatest time the earth has ever seen will be written by our generation, pouring their lives out before God’s throne night and day as the earth readies to receive Jesus. In the New Jerusalem, which is coming to earth, we will read the words of the authors of the “new song” promised to rise up out of the earth at the time of judgment. By the most recent count I can find, and it is changing so fast it is hard to know how many there really are, there are 444 of these night and day worship centers in existence right now. This is just the beginning.
Psalms 98:1-9 A Psalm. Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. (2) The LORD has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. (3) He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. (4) Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. (5) Sing to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a psalm, (6) With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King. (7) Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell in it; (8) Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together before the LORD, (9) For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, And the peoples with equity.
