Getting Ready
The "end times" aren't the point. It's the getting ready for them that matters. You'll never get ready if you never let yourself believe they are coming.
Wanting to put it off is simply wanting to delay the moment of humbling and getting ready.
It isn't foolish to look for the end times. It is foolish to mock people and belittle people that look for the end times because you think they are "wrong"... If you think people that try to fit the events of our days to the end times are wrong, you actually miss the entire point of the Bible. The Bible isn't a logical book. It's a heart book It's a faith book. Logic is an application of understanding and the Bible is describing realities even angels don't fully understand. It's more advanced than advanced physics! Some of it requires you take it on faith because we see dimly. This is humility, which actually is the point of the whole book.
People that WROTE the New Testament declared they were in the end times. People who read it are supposed to as well. Right or wrong isn't the point. Faithful and ready is. If your way of following Jesus doesn't look foolish to the world, you might not be following Him:
1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV — But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 3:19 NKJV — For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;
Many sons of the kingdom will be outside, and many others who were faithful despite circumstances will sit at the table.
1 John 2:18 — Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
Jude 1:.17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
2 Peter 3:1Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),
2that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,
3knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,
6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
Matthew 8:9“For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!
11“And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12“But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
1 Corinthians 7:29But this I say, brethren, the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none,
30those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they did not possess,
Revelation 22:12“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
13“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
I'd rather be counted with these guys than anyone else. Jesus is coming very soon. The Bible says so, and the humble believe it.
