Q&A
Got some great questions after last nights Millennial Reign Bible study:
Question 1. Where are dead in Christ now.
Answer: The dead in Christ are with the Lord in spiritual bodies. They are conscious, and communicating with each other and Jesus. They are knowledgeable about events on the earth. They are awaiting what is called in Hebrews 11 “perfection” or the resurrection of their bodies.
Question 2. If Christ came today would we be translated and who would be raised from the dead to be with Him 1000 years. We know the Martyred during the Tribulation will come with Him.
Answer: If Christ came today (and He wouldn’t because there are a few things that have to happen, primary of which is Israel needs to invite Him back as Messiah), whether or not you were translated (raptured) would depend on whether or not you qualified for the first resurrection.
Many believers...most...will not (Matthew 7):
Matthew 7:21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Hebrew 11 tells us what it looks like to choose to qualify for the better, or first resurrection:
Hebrews 11:32 And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:
33who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. 36Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. 37They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— 38of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. 39And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
Worldly believers, who don’t choose the cross and the rejection from the world and religious people that comes with it, they are given a portion with the “hypocrites”, which means they will remain in natural bodies at the time of the first resurrection, and then be discipled, along with the unbelievers in the nations, over the course of 1,000 years, called the millennial reign. This is what Matthew 7 passage above, Matthew 24, 25, and numerous other passages are describing. Often this is called “outer darkness.” It is outside the New Jerusalem where the resurrected will dwell.
Matthew 24:44“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
45“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46“Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47“Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48“But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49“and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50“the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51“and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:27‘So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28‘Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30‘And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 31“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
Faithful believers who literally laid down their lives for Jesus will get resurrected as the Bride and rule with Jesus for those 1,000 years.
Those who “fall away” or take the mark of the beast, will be hunted down and executed by Jesus. They will dwell in hell until the final judgment at the end of the 1,000 years.
Revelation 19: 20Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.
Question 3. We know He will come and all will see Him...the 1000 years or at Judgment?
Every eye will see Him at the BEGINNING of the 1,000 year reign. That is in Matthew 24 and the other descriptions of the Olivet discourse.
Matthew 24:29“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
30“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great gloryt.
31“And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
2 Peter 3:10-14 tough to reconcile with the info we have now; need more information. Thanks, I am new on this topic.
2 Peter 3:10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
This passage covers all of the events from the 2nd coming through the end of the 1,000 year reign. Peter is describing the urgency to take part in the first resurrection, and to therefore be ready when it happens. Once it happens, the wait will be long….much longer than our “70 or 80” year lives now. There will be sin and pain on the earth during its renovation. The dissolution Peter describes is referring to the literal structure that the world is organized by now, and its renewal...it isnt by magic or the waving of his hand, but by the same voluntary discipline we are learning now!
Blessed and holy are those who take part in the first resurrection. It isn’t about status, its about what Jesus paid for and not wasting it !
