How Should Israel Fight?

Israel has to fight.  There is no way around it.  There is no negotiating with those sworn to not only your destruction as a people, but those willing to carry it out in the most inhumane way possible.  The State of Israel would be irresponsible to not fight for it's people.  All of them, Arab and Jewish, not to mention the host of other nationalities here, should be protected from hatred, evil, and murderous apathy towards life.

Israel must fight.

Biblically, Israel are God's people.  Their God reigns.  The people of Israel have paid a very high price to bring forward the Messiah.  You cannot divorce Jesus from Israel.  Humility demands we see the way Israel has been persecuted by the devil (symbolized as the dragon in Revelation, Chapter 12) for bringing forth the Messiah.

Israel is, in fact , God's people with all the beauty and struggle of what that means.  God blessed those who bless her.  He curses those that hate her.  This isn't just theology. This is reality.

Israel serves a very unique role in God's redemptive plan.  That means they must learn to see that requires a different approach. They cannot war like the world and still prevail.  This is deep in the history of Israel, from Abraham, Moses, David, Jehoshaphat... Deborah and Barak... Samuel. Even in modern history.  Her entire history is of a people who God desires to lead and protect, supernaturally, not naturally.

If Israel fights like David, it will win and righteousness will expand in Israel and beyond. Mercy will extend out from her, and so will justice.  This has happened in history.

David inquired of, listened for, and obeyed God.  Sometimes he fought, sometimes he waited.  God's righteousness, victory, and mercy came to Israel through David's willingness to obey God, especially in times of war. He was a man of war.

Saul was also a man of war.  He waged war in a way that destroyed Israel.  His pride, impatience, fear, cowardice, shame, over-reactions, and strong will literally destroyed and divided the entire nation.

If Israel fights like Saul, righteousness will fall and so will Israel, until she sees the heart of David.  When Israel sees the heart of David, she will also see the Messiah of Israel. He will come and fight for her.

Whether or not Israel should, or must, fight isn't the question.  She must.  No reasonable person would let their families or nation be slaughtered without a defense.

How Israel fights is the main issue.

I am praying for Israel to see the heart of the best warrior in her history, David.  David is the man after God's heart.  God's heart is what makes Israel different than her enemies.

2 Samuel 5:22-25 NKJV — Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. “And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

Isaiah 52:7-10 NKJV — How beautiful upon the mountains

Are the feet of him who brings good news,

Who proclaims peace,

Who brings glad tidings of good things,

Who proclaims salvation,

Who says to Zion,

“Your God reigns!” Your watchmen shall lift up their voices,

With their voices they shall sing together;

For they shall see eye to eye

When the LORD brings back Zion. Break forth into joy, sing together,

You waste places of Jerusalem!

For the LORD has comforted His people,

He has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD has made bare His holy arm

In the eyes of all the nations;

And all the ends of the earth shall see

The salvation of our God.

Praying for the nation of Israel, the people of Gaza, those in pain in the West Bank, the families that have lost so much in the most horrific way at the start of this (not just Jewish families.  All those who lived amongst on the communities attacked by Hamas suffered the same fate), and for the leaders of Israel to seek the Lord's heart for this moment. This is a nation who's memory and documented history of attempts to completely  wipe them out goes back all the way to Esther.

I'm for God, and God is for Israel. Through her, God is for all nations.  Apart from Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, there is no life at all.

Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV — Now the LORD had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,

From your family

And from your father’s house,

To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation;

I will bless you

And make your name great;

And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you,

And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Yeshua Hamashiac is returning.
