How Do I Cast Down My Crown?
The safest and wisest thing a person can be is weak. God made man to be weak.
But, not weak and drawing on the people around us. Not weak and drawing on ourselves... No. Weak and trusting in God.
The human flesh wants anyone but God to be God. It mostly wants to be God itself and when that fails, it looks for someone stronger to be it's "God."
God is God. He will not change. He wants man to reconcile the actual role we were given:
-Jehovah Jireh: I want to be a good provider for myself and my family. God is the only provider. Life works better when I settle this and get out of my pride and shame. Hoping others will help me provide is idolatry. It only digs my hole of resisting God deeper.
-Jehovah Rapha: I want to be healed when I think it's necessary. God is the only Rapha. He made me, sustains me and heals me as He sees necessary. Life is better when I lay down all my impatience and seek God for healing and direction for wellness.
-Jehovah Shalom: I want to be the orchestrator of peace. I want others to understand me and live at peace with me. My mind is always concerned about what others think of me. Life is better when I direct all my concern to what God thinks of me. I will always find myself at peace with Him when I let His love immerse me. He is at peace with me. He orchestrates my peace in the world.
John 14:27 NKJV — “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
I could go on and on. Every name of God is a crown He wears... Nissi, El Roy, Adonai, Aleph, Taf... It's worth it to get to know God. He is enthroned the more I know Him.
Every crown God wears, my flesh wants to wear. I have to learn to cast these crowns down at His feet and let Him be my God.
Much of the trouble a person experiences in life is their own doing. Pride and shame both conspire to get me to try to wear crowns never meant for me to wear alone.
God wants partnership. I am dust. He is God. He likes it that way.
We think we have to be good providers, but we need to be good children. We need to model to our families that GOD provides in the midst of our weakness. The worst delusion would be to spend my whole life acting like God to the world around me only to find out I led my family into the wrong faith! That would be tragic. Much better to lose my life and let God save it than model self-saving to my world, win it, and lose my soul having been a false witness to so many. Claiming to follow Jesus but insisting on being my own God is a false witness!
Matthew 16:24-26 NKJV — Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Pride is the problem the earth has, not weakness. If we embraced weakness, God's actual design for mankind, God would embrace us, and all of our needs would be fully supplied day after day after day after day....
Matthew 18:1-5 NKJV — At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. “Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
Matthew 6:24-34 NKJV — “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; “and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. “Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
