Return
Jesus' return is great and terrible, just as it was the first time. It requires preparation. It requires repentance on behalf of God's people, just as it did the first time. It requires insight, just as it did the first time...
The voice of warning will come from the wilderness, just as it did the first time. You might think "I'll wait until my favorite national leader tells me the hour is upon me." The national leaders were clueless and killed Jesus the first time. Know for yourself. Listen to the wilderness preachers who rightly divide the promises AND the warnings.
Isaiah 40.6-10.nkjv The voice said, “Cry out!” And he said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” O Zion, You who bring good tidings, Get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, You who bring good tidings, Lift up your voice with strength, Lift it up, be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand, And His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him.
The return of Jesus is the greatest wedding earth will ever witness. Many are invited, but many will ignore the invitation, or will come unready, like foolish bridesmaids:
Matthew.22.2-14.nkjv “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’ But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
The coming of the Lord is going to humble every proud guest, the one who says to himself "come Lord, I am ready to stand" without ever studying for himself what the coming of the Lord really entails, and instead relying on his own imagination, or worse yet, someone else's imagination... The coming of the Lord is going to elevate every humble guest, everyone that says I believe, and act on, the warnings of the groom. I see my need for readiness:
Luke 14.8-11.nkjv “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honorable than you be invited by him; and he who invited you and him come and say to you, ‘Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
