Impatience
Impatience will fill the Holy Places with abominations.
Ezekiel saw that impatience filled the end time temple with abomination and that as the judgment drew near, those leaders who let anything in went deep into idol worship as the pressure of impending judgment demonstrated their fear that the true God was not for them:
Ezekiel 8.5-12.nkjv Then He said to me, “Son of man, lift your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy in the entrance. Furthermore He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations.” So He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, there was a hole in the wall. Then He said to me, “Son of man, dig into the wall”; and when I dug into the wall, there was a door. And He said to me, “Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing there.” So I went in and saw, and there—every sort of creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed all around on the walls. And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan. Each man had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”
It was impatience driven by fear that turned the priests of the Lord to idol worship right in the Holy places. "The Lord has forsaken the land?" No. Actually, in their impatience, they had forsaken the Lord and the Lord was giving them over to their gods... gods the people wanted when there was no trouble. When trouble came they pressed into their false power and found that accelerated the judgment. This is promised by Jesus to occur in our generation:
Matthew 7.21-23.nkjv “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Impatience can often masquerade as faith, but the fruit of impatience is false signs and wonders that will not give the people of a community what they really need: revelation that puts on restraint... Vision that gives people great incentive to go after clean hands and a pure heart. That will make people safe in a storm:
Matthew 7.24-26.nkjv “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
Impatience satisfies the base desire to give the people what they want, rather than what they need. What everyone wants is the experience of power... What we need is revelation of what the power is for before the power comes.
The fire fell and the wind blew at Acts 2 after the PATIENCE of the upper room.
God has a plan that will bear the fruit of repentance... The fruit of righteousness... By the thousands at a time. But that plan... That Joel 2 plan... Begins with patience in locking our gaze on God and teaching others to do that, too. The fire falls at the right moment... But the lovesick gazing is available anytime...
Impatience fills the upper room with whatever seems to have power on it. BUT, when the storm hits, it is hitting to sift out those with clean hands and pure hearts.... Power in your hands won't matter... Clean hands invite true power... Pure hearts will see God.
Those who do the wonders and signs apart from the leadership of the one who calls patience one of the fruits of His presence are "playing the part" of God, not submitting themselves as His sons and daughters. Jesus himself was excellent... Perfect... In patience:
John 5.19.nkjv Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
I have been wrestling with impatience for the fire to fall and the wind to blow. This morning, the Lord showed me the fruit of revival... Families coming together, children getting vision for the tabernacle, a community growing in revelation that will produce voluntary lovers who walk in restraint and get clean hands and pure hearts... Is happening all around. The patience of the upper room is beginning to manifest...
The fire WILL fall. The wind WILL blow. And it will gather and sift a harvest. I don't want to fill the upper room with impatience. I want to keep contending for the Pentecost I see coming, but I also want to see the glory of lovesickness growing all around, right now.
Thank you for patience, Holy Spirit! Before the fire of Jesus' ministry, came the patience of John the Baptist!
Matthew 3.10-12.nkjv And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
