Prayer
Until the church learns that praying is doing something, the trouble in our country will increase. The only difference between protesting and praying is the intended recipient of our words.
The church in this hour is growing impatient with God and is now turning to more "practical" solutions. You are on the verge of seeing a collapse in our society and an antichrist youth army rise out of the portions of the church that give up on Jesus and choose a more forceful approach to social change.
The change is necessary, but the methods being employed are very prophetic, very negative, and very costly...mostly to the young adults caught up in the confusion.
I have never seen so many church leaders so illiterate on the anti-protest/anti-force nature of Jesus. I love and share the concern for where things are going. I believe in many of the causes. I especially love the heart of the young people protesting. BUT, the Bible is clear about where to direct all that zeal for truth: not to earthly power, but to the kingdom coming.
Don't let anyone guilt you or talk you out of what Jesus is clear about. The kingdom of Jesus is not carved out with human hands. It isn't going to come through politicians or group force. It will not come through marches, or through stadium rallies that are really political events with Jesus' name stamped on them.
The kingdom is going to come through people crying out to the Lord. That's it.
Jesus is pro-prayer and anti-protest.
Isaiah 42:1-8 "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. (2) He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. (3) A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. (4) He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law." (5) Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: (6) "I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, (7) To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house. (8) I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.
Justice will not come from us advancing the cause of justice in the streets, or in the offices where earthly power is held, it will come from us advancing the cause of justice to the heavens:
Luke 18:5-8 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' " (6) Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. (7) And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? (8) I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"
