Prophecy and the Timing of Jesus' Return
Like all prophecy, the Great Tribulation will be seen in hindsight, as it unfolds. After it is finished, it will be understood:
Daniel 12:9And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10“Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. 11“And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12“Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
The point of prophecy is to get us to wait on the Lord...to believe, watch, and pray...to wait, like Jesus told Peter to do in the garden of Gethsemane...the point of prophecy is not to get people to figure out what will happen then disconnect from God and wait to see, like Jonah overlooking Nineveh.
The most important prophecy...the prophecy every other prophecy points to, is the coming of the Messiah. The first fulfillment of the coming of Messiah was almost entirely missed until after it had unfolded. Only a few understood it was happening:
Matthew 16:13When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
This is the only way prophecy works. Jesus has established His church on this believing of what the Holy Spirit reveals, even when the eyes don't see it and men who claim to know don't support it.
The end time Bride will be entirely prophetic, which means she will believe without seeing because she knows what to watch for by revelation.
Luke 21:28“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” 29Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30“When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31“So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32“Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. 34“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35“For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
If you aren't trying to see the return of Jesus very intentionally...staying awake, watching, praying, adjusting your understanding, then repeating all these things, you will ENTIRELY miss it. Jesus is looking for a Bride right now...not a bunch of half-interested wedding attendees...Jesus is seeking out participants to the wedding.
Matthew 24:37“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39“and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40“Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41“Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 45“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46“Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47“Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48“But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49“and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50“the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51“and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I have been watching and praying in a very specific way for the return of Jesus since 2011. I am more convinced than ever that we are only a few years away from it. I am intentionally getting ready, yet keeping my heart soft, knowing I see dimly. I have watched many come and go from watching, praying, and getting ready because what they thought would happen didn't. This is a big mistake. It is guaranteed to not happen the way anyone thinks it will. That is WHY watching and praying is the key to not missing it!
Many in the church are being moved outside right now and don't know it, many in the world are coming in right now. We will see the biggest shift in delusion and clarity happen in this hour that the world has ever seen, and most people in the church don't have a healthy sobriety about this at all!
Matthew 22:2“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3“and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4“Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’ 5“But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6“And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 7“But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9‘Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ 10“So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12“So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13“Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
