Falling Away
John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
The falling away is not hard to understand. What the shaking of all things does is reveal whether or not you actually know Jesus.
Many know someone who knows Him, but don't know Him themselves. They have read his book, or at least parts of it...even have gone to His house, maybe even for years...but they have never spoken with him in the still, listened to him in the storm, and obeyed him in the difficult.
The falling away is simply the result of not knowing Him and Him not knowing you.
Ask yourself: do I know His voice? Can I ask Him questions about what to do in real time and expect an answer if I am patient to wait and listen? Do I place His real-time leadership first in my life. Do I even know how to get in contact with it?
If the answer is no to these questions, you simply don't know Him yet. That's ok, he's available, but you would have to come to terms with the fact that you haven't actually met Him yet, or that you've turned back from an initial introduction.
Many love what they know about Him, but they still don't actually know Him. This is a personal question that must be asked, and can only be answered by you. You would know.
Turning back from that initial introduction is the falling away:
Matthew 13:20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
Hearing Jesus speak takes faith, which implies it isn't always something you are naturally sure of (you choose to trust that he works with your lack of confidence to build more confidence over time), but it also results in a testimony that you know him and he is the one, more and more, calling your shots.
There is simply no other gospel. No other good news. The good news is you can actually for real, reconnect with God. But you must...actually, for real.
Matthew 7:13“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14“Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
15“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16“You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17“Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18“A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20“Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
24“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25“and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27“and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
If you think maybe you don't actually know Him but want to, you can literally just start asking Him. Call on His name and wait until you start to sense a response. He says things that agree with the Bible. That is one of the ways you grow in surety that the voice you are following is His. If you need help, private message me. I am happy to help get you started.
If you think you once knew him but discarded it as contrived later, and He became more and more distant, you can turn it back around. Just tell Him. Repent, which means turn back to him...go his direction. Repent simply means agree with God.
I see many people starting to embrace false pictures of Jesus, even embracing their demons, and calling that good. That isn't good.
