True Hope Vs. Vain Hope

Whatever I put my trust in becomes my god.

The worst hope is a vain hope. This is because it will fail at exactly the wrong moment. God will see to it that He is the only hope of the world. The wise settle it now.

When the whole world says "peace and safety" but that peace and safety isn't in turning to God, you can be sure sudden destruction will quickly follow on the heels of false hope.

Listen. Be a light in the darkness.

Babylon has a hope, but it isn't the Lord. Babylon has unity, but God isn't in the center of it. Babylon has a plan, but it isn't from the Lord. Babylon has strength, but it will be turned against all who trust in it.

Look at the history of the world and the history of God's people.

Psalm 33:12-22 NKJV — Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. The LORD looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works. No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.

The wise are trimming their lamps right now. They are seeing something the flesh cannot see, hoping in something that seems weak to the flesh, and getting ready for the end of all things.

1 Peter 4:7-8 NKJV — But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Love doesn't agree with the world. For God so loved the world... Love agrees with God.

Watch. Perilous times are upon us.

2 Timothy 3:1-12 NKJV — But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

The false vain hopes are going to fail very quickly. Foolishness will be exposed and many will be offended with God because He didn't use their vain hope to save them. Don't hope in man. It's a waste of time. Hope in God. His ways are not our ways.
