The Only Opinion That Matters

There are so many opinions we are concerned about in any given day. Do people think rightly about us, do they notice our efforts, our work, our flaws. What do they think about this or that...most of the time people are driven, and least in some small degree, by how they are perceived by others. This is normal in our culture, and is not all bad. It is good to be aware of the influence, good or bad, you have on those around you. But there is very little truth available to others to have an accurate opinion of you...

Only the One who made you really knows you and your secret thoughts. Only One sees the real motives behind your actions and words. Only One knows your true level of commitment and love for Him and for others. Only one see's your secret choices for obedience, selflessness, and truth when no one else is around.

The bible says that God has trillions of thoughts about you. He is always paying attention to you. He delights in you when no one else even knows what you have done, and all of his observations and perceptions of you are 100% accurate.

Psalm 139:17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.

They cannot be numbered!

18 I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

Other peoples' opinions of you, or your concern about other peoples' opinions of you will make you do things you normally wouldn't or keep you from doing things you normally would. But God's opinion of you is the only one that is real, the only one that is accurate, and the only one that will continue to drive you nearer to truth. If you will spend time talking to Him about His opinion of you, He will begin to show you how He feels about you. Then His thoughts about you will begin to outshine everyone else's.

In Revelation 2:12-17 Jesus describes a reward for those that care about His opinion more than mans. He says He will give those who are victorious a "white stone" (read dazzling bright shining medal) with a new name on it that only you and He will understand.

God is the only one who knows my real name. No matter what anyone else thinks...good or bad...I want to live for God's opinion. I won't regret it!
