All Consuming Fire

God is a consuming fire. His throne is a flame of fire, and a river of fire comes out of it.

Daniel 7:9-10 “I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

This is the light source of all creation. Jesus is a burning man. The light of His glory is what makes life happen:

John 1:3-5 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

I don't have to settle for the dim light of the sun which barely keeps the mechanics of living functioning. I can choose to present myself to the fiery God on His throne of fire and to the Son on His sapphire throne. The sea of glass is open to me to come. I can come boldly before this throne with thanksgiving and praise:

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Psalms 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

This is where I get filled up with the light that really brings life. This is where I grow in wisdom and understanding. This is where weariness, and doubt, and fear are burned off.

Around God are four living creatures covered with eyes to see. They catch glimpses of God moment by moment and then declare His glory, spreading it out into creation from the Source of Life, the First and the Last. They cry out "Holy" as they see a new glimpse, and those next to them, the elders see the nature of the declaration and respond "worthy!"...and the the revelation of light that brings life issues out into creation to anyone who wants eyes to see and ears to hear. These "living creatures" are called seraphim, or "burning ones." To burn in the presence of this glorious flame of life is what it means to truly live. Alive and on fire...Just like God showed Moses:

Exodus 3:3-5 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”

When I stand before this living flame of life...when I turn my attention and use my spirit...my God given imagination fueled by the Word of truth...and gaze on God in worship, the place I stand becomes Holy Ground by simple occupation...the more people that actually worship in a geographic location...the more the land itself becomes holy..."wholly other than" what it was.

Father, let me not waste this morning...help me cast off all distraction and worship in Spirit and Truth...and change the land itself in the process.
