We See Dimly
We see dimly:
1 Corinthians 13:9For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
This passage, in it's context, is an end time passage, describing the increase in vision and revelation that is promised as the prophetic passages that were thousands of years in the coming finally come into focus.
It is important to be careful HOW we listen to the Lord and the prophetic clarity that is emerging in the earth. Don't look for the one way a prophetic fulfillment doesn't seem to be happening...Look for the ways it is happening, humbly knowing that we don't have this all fit together right...No one does.
Many will be dismayed to find out the thing they were disqualifying was the real fufillment, they just misunderstood nuances of how it would be fulfilled.
Jesus isn't trying to trick anyone. We should be sure he is coming by the multitude of signs ... Not hung up on the one or two things those looking don't really understand. We should all be trying to see for ourselves.
I have heard many say " I thought you said "x" had to happen". Usually, I never said the thing the person heard, but even if I did, the argument is preposterous, as if the prophetic fulfillment of any thousands-of-years-old passage somehow was hindered or helped by my weak teaching or understanding! It really doesn't matter what the ant says about the steamroller that is coming...If the steam roller is coming get whatever help you can from the ant, but either way, get out of the way!
Jesus is never going to ask what "church leaders" thought when he evaluates what you chose to do to respond to him. Faithful is what is held up in the Bible as desirable, not "correct"... What are you doing with what you see? Are you letting one or two points keep you from embracing the truth that is plain to see in ten other ways?
Meditate on this passage:
Luke 8:15“But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
16“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.
17“For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.
18“Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.”
Great Tribulation is beginning. I don't know exactly how it all fits together. To be honest, no one does...But it is clear what is happening. The fulfillment of prophecy is always seen in hindsight, never clearly in foresight. Faith REQUIRES it work this way, but faith requires you don't wait for hindsight. The Faithful...Those who are approved by the Lord... believe without fully seeing:
Matthew 24:37“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
38“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39“and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Hebrews 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
7By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
2 Peter 3:3knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,
6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
