Money
It is sick to see so many in the body of Christ that have spent years earning the trust of people suddenly turning to serve Mammon. The twisting of the Gospel in this hour for shameless self promotion and pan-handling would be nearly unbelievable if it wasn't prophesied by Jesus over and over:
Matthew 7:15-20 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (16) You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? (17) Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. (19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (20) Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Do not be confused: Jesus isn't desperate to finance the kingdom. Generosity is about your heart condition, not God's balance sheet. Don't be so open minded your brain falls out. If a slick salesman is cajouling you into giving money with a Bible in his hand, use common sense.
I teach generosity and try hard to live out what I teach, but it must Biblical truth must be received with the help of the Holy Spirit and walked out in wisdom. Many are good at taking a few verses out of context to compel you to give them money.
Real preachers don't need money, they need integrity and self control. They seek the kingdom and God supplies. Look for fruit...is there love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, humility, or self-control in the one pitching the giving plan? If not, look elsewhere.
They devil tries to get people to take for themselves, not live in self control and generosity.
You cannot serve God and Mammon. Jesus turned over the table of money changers in the Temple. He's about to do it again. Household names are beginning to prey on the sheep. There is a massive financial and heart shaking happening right now. Many will fall if they will not repent.
Haggai 2:6“For thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land;
7‘and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts.
8‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.
9‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the LORD of hosts.”
10On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
11“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Now, ask the priests concerning the law, saying,
12“If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?” ’ ” Then the priests answered and said, “No.”
13And Haggai said, “If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?” So the priests answered and said, “It shall be unclean.”
14Then Haggai answered and said, “ ‘So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,’ says the LORD, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
Mark 11:15So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
16And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple.
17Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
18And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His teaching.
Luke 12:16Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.
17“And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’
18“So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
19‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’
20“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
21“So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
22Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
23“Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
25“And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
26“If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
27“Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28“If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
29“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.
30“For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.
31“But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
