Agreement
I want to agree with God. Repentance, obedience, holiness...in their simplest terms, these all mean "agree with God."
Isaiah 66:2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
This is the attribute of David, Daniel, John the Baptist, Paul...every great man or woman of God...the one thing that really set them apart in the eyes of God. None of them were perfectly obedient, none of them knew everything about God, none of them came to God on their own terms...but when they knew what God was saying, they set their heart to agree with Him.
God isn't searching the earth looking for wisdom. He isn't searching the earth looking for extravagant emotion toward Him. He isn't searching the earth looking for holiness...He is searching for those who will agree with Him no matter the cost:
1 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”
There is a great division coming to God's people. To God's people in the church, and in Israel. This division is described in Isaiah 66. God describes the division centering on agreement with Him. There will be those who are loyal to Him (agree with Him no matter the cost), and those who will name His name, but will do it on their terms. These He considers disloyal. They have their own agenda...their own ideas about who God is, and what He is about. To them God is a vehicle for their own agenda. Isaiah 66 tells us exactly what God is about: Jerusalem being the throne of Jesus, because He says so, and His action plan for taking it back from the nations who have stolen it from those He has given it to, the people of His name. Standing for this truth will continue to become the most divisive issue in the world.
God's action plan for taking back Jerusalem, and eventually all the nations, is going to be very stunning for those who only want to agree with their idea of "Hippie Jesus". There are many who want Jesus on their terms. They like thinking that their definition of love is His definition of love. That He would never offend anyone. That He hates war and violence.
Those who say Jesus hates war have never read Isaiah 66. Jesus hates injustice and rebellion against God, because Jesus hates anything that gets between Him and those He loves. Jesus' love requires that He make a distinction between good and evil, as He defines it. He will most certainly go to war...soon. In fact, war is the main aspect of Jesus' plan to drive evil first out of Jerusalem, and ultimately, out of every nation on earth:
Isaiah 66:15 For behold, the Lord will come with fire And with His chariots, like a whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by His sword The Lord will judge all flesh; And the slain of the Lord shall be many.
"The slain of the Lord shall be many." That should really grab my attention. Understanding that Jesus of the manger is also Jesus with a battle plan involving the chariot and sword is going to be more and more essential as world event continue to be more intense. Many want to argue "what Jesus would do" in Israel. Many want to argue that Jesus is for all oppressed people as we might define them, in our very limited understanding of what is happening over the entire course of history on earth and in the spiritual realm. Many would prefer to place themselves on Jesus' throne and tell us how God should see these world events, how He should interpret fairness and justice...but God has been definitive on this issue.
It is no question how He feels about Jerusalem, Israel, and the nations. Throughout the Bible, if we will read His plans, we find out Jesus is about to embark on a hostile takeover of every nation...including every man, woman, and child, that does not agree with Him.
Right now, the eyes of the Lord are searching the earth for loyalty. God says that to disagree with Him about what He is doing and why He is doing it...disagreeing with Him about His absolute right to be right...is the same as offering sacrifices to a false idol. It is rebellion against God. God told Isaiah that many would do this exact thing in God's own name! God promises that simply naming the name of Jesus will not keep a disloyal person from shame:
Isaiah 66:3 “He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man; He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck; He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood; He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol. Just as they have chosen their own ways, And their soul delights in their abominations, 4 So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.” 5 Hear the word of the Lord, You who tremble at His word: “Your brethren who hated you, Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, That we may see your joy.’ But they shall be ashamed.”
The world is rushing toward the valley of decision. Confusion is entering the church like no other time in history. A false church, the great falling away, is promised to rise up.
Knowing what Jesus is doing really matters. Many in the church have no idea what the Bible says is about engulf the planet, and where Jesus stands in all of it. Agreeing with Him is only going to get harder to do from here on out because many voices are promised to rise up and say "here He is, this is what He thinks" "or here He is, this is what He would do", but it essential to know His plans now, so we can be loyal to Him and stand for truth until He comes...for He will come, and when He does He promises everyone who has been disloyal to Him will mourn, but those who have been loyal will be gathered to His side as He personally takes over Jerusalem and establishes His perfect government of love there, forever!
Matthew 24: 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Isaiah 66:1 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? The Lord Vindicates Zion 2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
