Jesus's Birth

On one day, this promise was fulfilled:

Isaiah 56:1 Thus says the Lord: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come, And My righteousness to be revealed.

In a feeding trough, surrounded by animals, the righteousness of God was demonstrated to the world. Angels announced it to the lowliest first, but the wise and powerful were welcome, too. Outcasts, and everyone else, were welcome to share in the great promise born in Bethlehem one night, over 2,000 years ago.

On one night, the whole experience of mankind changed. What was available to man changed. That generation witnessed a revolution in the idea of who God is...His righteousness revealed.

The baby born in the manger was Jesus...the Word made flesh. Moments before He was born as the Son of Man, He was God and He was with God. Surrounded by Seraphim and elders in a continuous worship procession our minds can hardly imagine: the Seraphim crying out new revelations of the beauty of God, while the elders, hearing another revelation from those closest to the throne, cast everything they have before the Father and the Word...Jesus.

Because God's love for us is so great...because He made us to be with Him and said it was very good...because mankind rebelled against perfect love...because the Father, and the Son, and the Holy spirit desired a royal family, and were not willing that we be lost, Jesus stepped down from this awesome worship scene into the lowliest and dirtiest of places: a feeding trough in a barn, laid in a bed of hay and wrapped in rags.

Heaven didn't mourn Jesus' humility. There was no lamenting Jesus' change of scenery. The angels announced "Glory to God in the Highest. Peace on Earth. Goodwill towards men." This was the realization of the Father's righteousness. All of heaven saw the fulfillment of the Father's desire in the Son's willingness...Immanuel, God with us.

This is the beginning of the renewal of what the Father called "very good" in the garden. From that moment of rebellion in the garden, the world had continued to grow darker and darker. Even the flood, God's mercy in the form of wrath, didn't stay the steady march of darkness. But on one day, a light so bright the darkness could never put it out was lit on the face of the earth. A light was lit in the destiny and history of mankind. On one day what was promised began. What rebellion against God had broken, God began fixing. In a brilliant plan designed to not violate free will, justice, or love, God began the renewal of all things. Hope was born on Christmas day.

Jesus said:

John 14:7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

This is the Father's heart: to seek and save the lost. His commitment is demonstrated in Jesus' willingness to come where we are...not to be adored as a King first, which He is, but to show us how adored we are. The righteousness of God in the lowliest of places. Jesus came to where we are in order to bring us to where He is...where we were always meant to be:

John 17:24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Immanuel, God with us...us with God. Jesus came to the manger to make a way for us to come to His throne, to see, and share in, His glory. On one day this was made possible.

There is another day coming. As the world seems to be growing darker and colder, the light lit on Christmas day has not gone out, but is quietly growing brighter and brighter. Though time and time again, the darkness has tried to engulf the light, it will never happen. Soon, on another promised day, the fire lit in the manger will burn brightly enough for every eye to see!

Matthew 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

On one day, the Father's desire of Immanuel, God with us, will be realized in full. Free will, justice, and love will have each been exercised in full, and we will be with God, and He will be with us. Until then, there is a way we can give God what He has paid so dearly for. We can talk to Him. Jesus said abide in (talk to) me, and I will abide in you. The greatest present I can give the King born in the manger is my attention, and the greatest present He can give me is His.

Isaiah 55:1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. 3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David.
