The Scroll

Jesus is the only man to ever live who is worthy to open the seals on the scroll of the Book of Revelation.


Revelation 5:2-5 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”


The scroll is the title deed to the earth, but also the action plan that will be used to take possession of the earth. Daniel described Jesus in Revelation 5 way before John ever got the vision of the book of Revelation:


Daniel 7:13-14 “I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.


This was a picture of Jesus taking the scroll in Revelation5, but also the final result of the action plan the scroll describes. We have also been given access to the "cliff notes" of the action plan written on the scroll, which is the book of Revelation. The action plan is intense! Many who have browsed through it have considered it either too intense to be literal, or have hoped they wouldn't be on earth to see it lived out. To hold either of these positions reveals a lack of understanding that the book of Revelation is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. All of the events described in this book are intended to reveal Jesus to the world. The first time Jesus came, many did not recognize or understand who Jesus is, or what He was doing:


Isaiah 53:3-5, 8-9, 11-12 "He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.


He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth.


He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors."


This passage from Isaiah is saying that because Jesus endured the greatest and most unjust tribulation any man has ever known, He is worthy to release the end time "Great Tribulation." This is a companion passage to Revelation 5.


The last 3.5 years of the action plan Jesus will execute will be the most intense time of world history. It is intentionally intense, for this is Jesus' plan to use the least intense means necessary to reach the greatest number of people at the deepest heart level without ever violating free will. Jesus will not force anyone to choose Him for salvation, but in the fullness of mercy and love, Jesus will allow mankind to taste the fruit of their choice to rebel against Him. Jesus will incrementally (the seals, trumpets, and bowls get progressively more intense) lift His hand of restraint from the evil plan in mankind's heart, and in satan's heart, to give anyone who is undecided on Jesus a chance to choose Him...to choose love...before it is too late. Even the events of the Book of Revelation are slight compared to an eternity separated from the author of life in a lake of fire. Many do not realize that to reject Jesus is to the reject the one who has cared for and protected them from the time of their birth:


Matthew 5:43-45 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.


The action plan in the Book of Revelation is designed to reveal to the entire world who Jesus really is, and the true cost of choosing eternity without Him. This is the Bride's...the co-heir with Jesus'...greatest hour. We will be a faithful witness on earth that Jesus is the one behind the events of Revelation. Right now we are in a time that Jesus described as "birth pains." There is MUCH to do in this time if we want to agree with Jesus. This isn't just a time for "watching"...it is a time for "getting ready"


Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.


This is part of the passage in Matthew 24 where Jesus described the birth of the end-time move of God to drive evil off the planet. Right now, a little watching quickly tells us that the contractions are getting closer and closer and each cycle is a little more intense. Just like any birth, the coming of this great move of God is exciting and daunting...it is supposed to be...it is DESIGNED to be this way. A pregnancy is joyful, intense, and scary. But, we have been given the plans and the outcome in advance. We know the health and gender of the baby to be born. We know that WE WIN, if we will study our beloved king's plans! Now is the time for the clay to be molded by the potter. To know the designs God has for this generation and agree with Him. The angel told Daniel that those who would find out what God was doing in this generation and lead others into agreement with God would "shine like the stars in heaven forever." This was an invitation for greatness exclusive to one generation! I say yes!


Isaiah 29:13-16 Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord , And their works are in the dark; They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, “He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?





Daniel 12:1-4 “At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever. “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
