Transitional Generations

There are three transitional generations described in the Bible. Each transitional generation has a Passover and a Pentecost. The Passover/Pentecost relationship cannot be overstated. Understanding the desire of God for a transitional generation is the key to agree with Him. Transitional generations are NOT "business as usual."

Heaven opens in a unique way for each transitional generation. The first transition...the transition into the covenant of the law...was marked by great signs and wonders. This covenant of the law marked the beginning of a new chapter for humanity that began with the first Passover lambs. Even the calendar was altered to mark this first Passover:

Exodus 12:2-3 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

The blood of the lambs caused death to Passover the families of the people who took part. Heaven opened in a powerful way. The sea split, and a pillar of glory...a pillar of fire...led the Israelites through a time of trouble out of captivity and into a place of complete reliance on God. They heard God. They saw God. Much was given to this transitional generation. Much was also expected from them. Living simple and quiet lives like their mothers and fathers had for 400 years in Egypt was not an option for this generation.

The 1st Pentecost that came 50 days after the 1st Passover was marked with a man...Moses...going up and receiving the power for the community to relate to God in a new way…what Moses received was given to share with anyone that wanted to enter in. Divine revelation of what God called good, so that anyone that wanted it might be more like God. Then, generation after generation, God’s people once again began settling into this new covenant...the new reality of relating to God. But there was another Passover and another Pentecost promised:

Isaiah 53:4-12 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

HIS Generation...Jesus’ generation...was promised something bigger than the first Pentecost resulting from His Passover sacrifice: a portion with the great...spoils with the strong. This 2nd Passover was MUCH better than the first. The blood of lambs could not make intercession in the same way the blood of the Righteous Son could! With this greater Passover...this perfect Passover...came great power. Heaven opened once more. The veil in the temple torn, a great earthquake, resurrection of the dead. The 2nd transitional generation...HIS generation was marked with great power:

Matthew 27:50-53 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

The 2nd Pentecost that followed was the Pentecost of greater power. Instead of one man going up, all the believers went up...to an "upper room" to meet with God to get the new terms of life with God...new power to live more like God. Jesus told them "don’t try to do what I have told you about UNTIL you get the power!"

Luke 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

The 2nd Pentecost was great power to agree with God. Healing, prophecy, and signs and wonders marked His generation and it started with a new measure of power from on high to fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION:

Acts 2:1-4, 41 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ...Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

“His generation”…the 2nd transitional generation… was marked with great power, but it meant that generation could not live like their fathers and mothers. Anyone who wanted to be in agreement with God had to separate from the ways of generations before and actually live like they were in a unique generation. Every transitional generation comes with great power, but also great responsibility to adapt and lay down the old ways.

But there is ONE last generation promised. The generation of the Bride. The third transitional generation is OUR generation. The generation of Jacob...the generation that responds...that wrestles for the blessing like Jacob did at Peniel:

Genesis 32:30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Psalms 24:3-8 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord ? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord , And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.

This last transitional generation, called by David the “generation of Jacob”, will ascend as a generation...the entire Bride…all the righteous of the Lord...in the final Pentecost, they will have the Spirit poured on all flesh to not START the great commission, like Jesus’ generation, but to FINISH the great commission, then the King of Glory will come in. This 3rd transitional generation is the generation that will open heaven by their own agreement with what their Groom was willing to do...not loving their lives even to death. They will be the final Passover, by being willing to lay down life as usual, the inheritance of the world, to take up the inheritance of Jesus:

Revelation 12:10-12 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

This is the promised sacrifice of the global Bride, but there is also a promised Pentecost…the power to do what the Groom desires. The final opening of heaven that will result in a great outpouring of the Spirit on all who "go up." Joel and David both said that it begins with an all in "seeking of the face" of God, and ends with "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord being saved." Joel 2 lays it out clearly, here are the highlights:

Joel 2:11-12, 27-32

It is an end-time thing...the great AND terrible day of Jesus’ return:

11-12: The Lord gives voice before His army, For His camp is very great; For strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; Who can endure it? “Now, therefore,” says the Lord , “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”

And this is what will happen for all those who turn to His face with the whole heart:

27-32: Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord . And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.

This is the final…the 3rd… Pentecost that will result in the "greater things"...greater than the first 2 Pentecosts...it is the Book of Exodus, combined with the Book of Acts, on a GLOBAL level. This 3rd Pentecost comes from an entire generation offering themselves as living sacrifices...trading the lives their parents lived for a life of complete devotion to Jesus and what He is doing in their generation. Life as usual is not an option for anyone that wants to agree with Jesus.

This sequence of the Passover and Pentecost can be clearly seen in the time Joel PROMISED it would be seen….the time when the “moon turns blood red and sun turns to darkness.” This isn’t talking about an eclipse, but rather a supernatural event that will happen at the last Pentecost, when the sixth seal is opened. The result of THIS Pentecost will be the “great Harvest”…the fulfillment of the great commission in one generation. We can see this laid out in Revelation 6 and 7 and its agreement with Joel 2:

Revelation 6:9-17

First, we see the “Passover” of the living sacrifice of the Bride, loving not her own life even unto death, that not just the Israelites in Egypt be saved, or the willing men and women in Judea be saved, but everyone, GLOBALLY who would say yes would be passed over by death:

9-11: When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. (10) And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" (11) Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

Then comes the final Pentecost…the promised Joel 2 outpouring of the Holy Spirit that enables not just 120 in Jerusalem to start the great commission, but rather every servant of the living God GLOBALLY to FINISH the great commission:

12-17 (12) I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. (13) And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. (14) Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. (15) And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, (16) and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! (17) For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

The generation of Jacob…those who “go up”…seeking the face of God night and day…they won’t cry out “hide us from His face!” No!! They have been seeking His face…reaching more and more for clean hands and pure hearts. They will see heaven open…Jacob’s ladder…angels ascending and descending. Death opens the veil between heaven and earth, and an entire generation are going to die to themselves by living the Sermon on the Mount as their lifestyle not a theoretical goal, not loving their own lives even unto death, forgiving each other, loving each other, providing for each other, praying for each other, fasting together…growing in unity in a time of trouble, crying out in one voice day and night, even offering themselves in martyrdom like Steven and Paul and Peter….one with all those who Jesus prayed would be one…they will all ascend the mountain of God TOGETHER as a generation in David’s Tabernacle…and BAM…the power will come globally. This is why: that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!

After the sixth seal, the angel shows John the great results of that Pentecost of global power:

Revelation 7:13-17 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?" (14) And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (15) Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. (16) They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; (17) for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

And when it is all done…the Pentecost poured out, the witness of the united Bride loving even unto death just like Her Groom…when she has made herself ready, that ancient gate will lift up, not the symbolic veil in the temple that demonstrated the opening in the Spirit, but the PHYSICAL veil between the natural and the supernatural, will finally PERMANENTLY be removed, and the King of Glory will come in!

Revelation 19:5-16 Then a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!" (6) And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! (7) Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." (8) And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (9) Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God." (10) And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." (11) Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. (12) His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. (13) He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (14) And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. (15) Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

The King of Glory is coming. Are you ready to “go up” for the power to usher Him in?

The Bride says “come”…what do I say?

Luke 9:23-26 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. (24) For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. (25) For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? (26) For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.

Revelation 22:10-21 And he said to me, "Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. (11) He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still." (12) "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. (13) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." (14) Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. (15) But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (16) "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." (17) And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. (18) For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; (19) and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (20) He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (21) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
