Nineveh

Nineveh, in its day, was the most evil place on the planet. Jonah was sent to warn them of their destruction, and this is what resulted:

Jonah 3:4-10 And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

There is a response God desires when warning His people.

All over our country right now, believers are awakening to the dire nature of our situation. Thanks to many like Anne Graham Lotz, God's people are beginning to wake up. But being aware of the problem is not enough. What we do in this season really matters. God is really looking to see if we care. Do we care enough to find out why what is happening is happening, and what the Bible has to say about it?

The problems we find ourselves in are complex...they require some unraveling and our attention. Satan has worked hard to distract God's people...who mostly seem to have an attention span of about 20 minutes. That will not cut it. Let me say it once more: you need to set aside whatever it is you think is so pressing and figure out what God is doing in this season...otherwise you will find yourself, and your family, entirely unprepared for what comes next. It is giving in to the distractions of life that is keeping believers from actually repenting.

Repenting isn't praying and fasting...you pray and fast that repentance might come...you repent and the result may be praying and fasting...but repenting is something altogether different than the outward expression praying and fasting...repenting is changing the direction of your life to agree with God. You don't repent for a week...you repent from "then on."

Our country is VERY broken. We are making choices that defy not only heavenly wisdom...we are making choices that defy earthly logic. This is a bad sign.

Many pundits, when they try to analyze our foreign and domestic policy...lets just picture the middle east or ukrainian foreign policy, or the 100,000 kids who have illegally entered the southern border in the last several months...say it makes 0 sense...it defies logic. It does defy logic unless your logic is connected to Biblical prophecy.

Our country is walking down a very alarming road that Biblical prophecy provides the sign posts for. You can see it clearly in Isaiah 47, as well as several other places:

Isaiah 47:5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; For you shall no longer be called The Lady of Kingdoms.

"Lady of Kingdoms" refers to the "dignity" of this end-time Babylon. She will no longer hold the title lady, stripped of her dignity, which is clearly shown earlier in the passage as she is naked and working hard to survive where she once flourished in prosperity.

Dignity is important to grab hold of. According to wikipedia,

Dignity is "a concept used in moral, ethical, legal, and political

discussions to signify that a being has an innate right to be valued

and receive ethical treatment. It is an extension of the Enlightenment-era concepts of inherent, inalienable rights."

The Isaiah 47 passage is talking about the Lady of Kingdoms loosing her inalienable rights...human rights...her dignity. This once "golden city," as she is called in Isaiah 14, is suffering her loss of liberty. Lady Liberty is collapsing, and about to be "burned with fire"...why? Let Isaiah tell us:

Isaiah 47:6-9 I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, And given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily. And you said, ‘I shall be a lady forever,’ So that you did not take these things to heart, Nor remember the latter end of them. “Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’; But these two things shall come to you In a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood....

Her statement "I will be a lady forever" means she took liberty for granted. Careful how you stand, lest you fall. This is the state of our country. We simply believe our freedom...our liberty...our inalienable rights we call the Bill of Rights...will never go away even as they are disappearing right before our eyes...gun control, NSA information control, local and national agencies armed with SWAT gear, information control in the media...our liberty is quickly evaporating, yet we do not repent...we try to figure out how to protect our comfort...we do not consider OUR ways. We seriously need to wake up and repent, because this is what is coming: loss of children and widowhood.

This prophecy is speaking about fatherhood and the groom....it is describing the great falling away. The two identities of God: Father and Husband...are being destroyed in the place that has taken liberty for granted. The country founded as a daughter and a Bride has forgotten to whom she was married and to whom she belonged.

We have a form of Christianity, but we mostly deny its real power. As the pressure increases, due to our treatment of Israel, we will see persecution of Christians that causes many to quit. Paul warned of this, Jesus warned of this, and so did Isaiah:

II Timothy 3:1-5 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

II Thessalonians 2:1-3 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

To "fall away" means to quit being a Christian. When liberty is fully removed...and mark my words, by the prophecy of Isaiah it will be...many who profess Jesus will be shown to have no root in Him. The trouble will cause them to try, in their own strength to "save themselves." God has a plan for those that know Him to live supernaturally in signs and wonders, yet many do not realize this is faith, faith is confidence, and confidence is learned over time by interacting with God, usually in Him addressing needs. Instead, many have made their employer their "God who provides", or the government, or their own wisdom...but God wants a Bride that knows her Father. Repentance is the only way to fix our minds now, while there is time. Otherwise, we will soon find ourselves facing this:

Isaiah 47:9-15 ...They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments. “For you have trusted in your wickedness; You have said, ‘No one sees me’; Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you; And you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’ Therefore evil shall come upon you; You shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you; You will not be able to put it off. And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, Which you shall not know. “Stand now with your enchantments And the multitude of your sorceries, In which you have labored from your youth— Perhaps you will be able to profit, Perhaps you will prevail. You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators Stand up and save you From what shall come upon you. Behold, they shall be as stubble, The fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves From the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, Nor a fire to sit before! Thus shall they be to you With whom you have labored, Your merchants from your youth; They shall wander each one to his quarter. No one shall save you.

This is the solution...not JUST a week of fasting and praying...but a full REPENTING. Tearing the heart, putting away the distractions, and living like Jesus is coming back in years not decades...because He is!

Joel 2:11-14 The lord is at the head of the column. He leads them with a shout. This is his mighty army, and they follow his orders. The day of the lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive? That is why the lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve...
