Glory
Ezekiel 1:16The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.
God's glory will judge the darkness of the earth...the light of His brilliance will literally harm the darkness in the earth. Jesus comes with tribulation because the earth... Even right now...is rejecting the leadership of Jesus and mostly does not care about the consequences for that rejection. The glory and the consumption are the same move of God...a wheel within a wheel.
In the Ezekiel passage above, the word translated "Beryl" is the word Tarshish...meaning yellow Jasper. That is the color of fire...it is the same word used for the city Jonah ran to when rebelling against the word of God to go and preach in Nineveh:
Jonah 1:2“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.”
3But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
Right now the Lord is revealing more and more of His glory. The throne of Jesus is returning to the earth. That is why there is so much trouble in the earth...murder, theft, sorcery, corruption...all of these are increasing, yet much of the church is not running headlong into warning the earth. Much of the check church is instead running to Tarshish...running to their own judgment... Running right into their own fire, rather than warn of God's judgment, which is coming.
Jonah didn't want to warn Nineveh...Jonah was much more negative on Nineveh than God was, and Jonah was too afraid of being wrong to actually be faithful. Jonah didn't want to warn people and then have God let Him be seen as wrong when mercy was extended. Many in the church KNOW that judgment must come, yet, for fear of being wrong, or fear of being right, say nothing. This is great error.
Yesterday, I found myself at the worst movie, called "10 Cloverfield Lane." (A rainy day last minute pick). Scenes from this movie are literally taken from the pages of the Bible. The message of the movie is terror and fear, but it highlighted the deception being fed to the world. This is the deception: there is no safe place.
The earth has its own message...its own move...a wheel within a wheel. This is the lie of peace and the consequence is fear and hopelessness, when that lie doesn't pan out. This is the message being preached to untold masses through mich of the media right now. Even though the world preaches peace and safety with its mouth, it teaches terror and apathy at the very same time. Where is the voice of truth in the power-filled church? It is nearly silent.
The Spirit filled church needs to find its voice in this hour. The Spirit filled church needs to look full on at the promise of destruction coming and preach and teach into it...we should preach the judgments and teach the promises of safety for repentance...instead, like the world, many preach a lie of peace and leave the majority of the church primed for apathy and destruction. We need to preach and teach rightly...the wheel within the wheel...the judgment and the safety go together. The warning of judgment leads people to safety. Take away the truth of judgment and you are literally stealing all the incentive to get safe right now.
The blood of this generation is hanging over the head of the church that claims to hear God:
Ezekiel 33:7“So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.
8“When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
9“Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
The judgment is sure, but so is the safety...they are the same move...the same dual-wheel . By the signs of the time, you have very little time to make a safe place for what is coming. You do this by repentance...personal, family, church, and then city. Repent means "agree with God"... The main thing God is doing right now is warning of the judgment that must come. The earth is corrupting the warning with movies and songs...and the church has mostly plugged her ears and laid in the bottom of the boat. If she isn't careful, she wi be thrown over the side :
Jonah 1:7And they said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.
8Then they said to him, “Please tell us! For whose cause is this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?”
9So he said to them, “I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”
10Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, “Why have you done this?” For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.
11Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”—for the sea was growing more tempestuous.
12And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”
13Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them.
14Therefore they cried out to the LORD and said, “We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man’s life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it pleased You.”
15So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.
16Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows.
Isaiah 24:1Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
Distorts its surface
And scatters abroad its inhabitants.
2And it shall be:
As with the people, so with the priest;
As with the servant, so with his master;
As with the maid, so with her mistress;
As with the buyer, so with the seller;
As with the lender, so with the borrower;
As with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered,
For the LORD has spoken this word.
4The earth mourns and fades away,
The world languishes and fades away;
The haughty people of the earth languish.
5The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants,
Because they have transgressed the laws,
Changed the ordinance,
Broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore the curse has devoured the earth,
And those who dwell in it are desolate.
Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned,
And few men are left.
7The new wine fails, the vine languishes,
All the merry-hearted sigh.
8The mirth of the tambourine ceases,
The noise of the jubilant ends,
The joy of the harp ceases.
9They shall not drink wine with a song;
Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10The city of confusion is broken down;
Every house is shut up, so that none may go in.
11There is a cry for wine in the streets,
All joy is darkened,
The mirth of the land is gone.
12In the city desolation is left,
And the gate is stricken with destruction.
13When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people,
It shall be like the shaking of an olive tree,
Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.
14They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing;
For the majesty of the LORD
They shall cry aloud from the sea.
15Therefore glorify the LORD in the dawning light,
The name of the LORD God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea.
16From the ends of the earth we have heard songs:
“Glory to the righteous!”
But I said, “I am ruined, ruined!
Woe to me!
The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously,
Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.”
17Fear and the pit and the snare
Are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth.
18And it shall be
That he who flees from the noise of the fear
Shall fall into the pit,
And he who comes up from the midst of the pit
Shall be caught in the snare;
For the windows from on high are open,
And the foundations of the earth are shaken.
19The earth is violently broken,
The earth is split open,
The earth is shaken exceedingly.
20The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard,
And shall totter like a hut;
Its transgression shall be heavy upon it,
And it will fall, and not rise again.
21It shall come to pass in that day
That the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones,
And on the earth the kings of the earth.
17When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.
