Waiting on the Lord is the Only Way to Inherit His Promise
If God gives you something, no one can take it away.
Psalm 37:1-9 NKJV — A Psalm of David.
Do not fret because of evildoers,
And wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the LORD,
They shall inherit the earth.
I've found this to be true over and over in my life.
The yoke of Yeshua is easy and His burden is light. Patience is the yoke and faith is the burden. He gives both in great measure as we ask and receive.
Hebrews 6:12 NKJV — that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
James 1:2-4 NKJV — My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Revelation 14:11-13 NKJV — “And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
The ultimate test of this principle is the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast is a test of faith in provision, opportunity, and ultimately destiny for believers. It isn't mostly a test for the world. The world doesn't need a mark to be slipping away into futility... It's already there. It's a test for believers administered by an anti (alternative to) Christ. Satan has asked to sift us, just as he asked to sift Job, Peter, Daniel...
Matthew 13:41-43 NKJV — “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, “and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. “Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Matthew 13 and Psalm 37 are talking about the same thing. Same Spirit. Same principle.
Your destiny is secure if you leave it in God's hands and do what He says. Your identity will shine forever, Your provision guaranteed (both are treasures), if it's stored in heaven and not the earth.
It's more than about money. It's about identity. We are tempted to frame our lives as what we do, how successful we become, what we accumulate, and excelling beyond norms. That's the only way the flesh can evaluate success... But what it sees and can touch...what it can measure against other people's lives.
For those yoked to Yeshua, that has to die. A new life has to emerge. One like Yeshua's. That is the only way to get victory over the mark.
Maybe God is giving you victory right now by what you are going through? Maybe he is helping you overcome self by putting you in a waiting place, where it seems your future is in someone else's hands? Maybe, just maybe, He is freeing you from the way the world does things to put you under "the shadow of his wing."
What if what looked like mediocrity, being stuck, not really getting ahead... Was really the Lord placing you into an internal destiny you wanted. It can only be that if you let your circumstances conform you to HIS heart. God gives perfect circumstances. WE decide how to see them. Look at Yeshua's life. He deserved so much better... He will see it.
Philippians 2:5-10 NLT — You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Don't fight what man can do. Move forward with God into humility. Don't worry. Read Psalm 37. Rest in the Lord. You never know... At just the right time, when his heart was ready, God sprung Joseph from the prison and made him the rescue of Egypt.
No one who waits on the Lord is ever ashamed.
