David's Tabernacle
It is prophesied in Amos 9:11 that in the last generation David's night and day worship center, the tabernacle, would be raised up in all of its glory.
David started a worship center in the tabernacle (the house of God) where thousands of musicians took shifts to keep a continuous offering of night and day "prayer set to music" going. When He did this, the worship order in heaven, as described in Revelation 4, constant adoration and revelation of God, was agreed with on earth, and glory and power were released by God. The geography of Israel was blessed. People prospered and agreement with God increased goodness in the land.
Amos, and many other Biblical writers, said this would happen again on a global level. In fact, a study of the book of Revelation shows why this is Jesus' end time plan for the whole Church. The end-time Church will be a night and day (in shifts...everyone helping to keep "the fire on the altar") praying and worshiping Church. The Praying Church is the earthly power-base of Jesus ' heavenly plan:
Revelation 8:1-6 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake. So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
The prayers of the saints are essential to God releasing judgment. God has chosen to partner with mankind in what He releases on earth. From the time of Adam and Eve, the very start of creation, God has chosen to work out His plans on earth in partnership with people:
Psalms 115:16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord ’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men.
This is why prayer is essential. God doesn't need our participation, He wants it! He desires to include us, because He loves us....He wants to be with us in life...for us to be with Him. It is why He made man, placed Him in the garden to walk with God, and called it "very good." God with me, God with you, God with man...Immanuel. It is the beginning of our story, and it will be the grand finale to the end of the age of sin....God will get the last word! What He called very good...God with man....is exactly what will defeat His enemies.
The Father's intention was always that we would partner with Him, because He desires to be with us. Satan, the thief and liar, intervened to steal the most precious thing to God...US! BUT, God WILL get the last word. His very sons and daughters, His own royal family, the Bride of his son, will worship and pray night and day to see God's plan fulfilled on the earth!
David understood the heart of God in a unique way. God Himself testified of David's relationship with Him:
Acts 13:22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’
David prayed that God would be His everything...the one thing he desired before anything else:
Psalms 27:4 One thing I have desired of the Lord , That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord , And to inquire in His temple.
This wasn't David's boast, this was David's plea. The king of Israel, still celebrated as one of the most successful kings ever, wanted to spend time with God more than anything else. When God heard this prayer, He responded with zeal. David's plea agreed perfectly with God's desire!
God gave David insight into His heart. He showed David exactly how to agree with God. As He did, I imagine He said something like this "This is how you dwell in my presence son, gaze on my beauty, sing it out, and I will release it into your heart and those around you. You were made for this. Your heart is wired to experience me, and when you do, it will bring you joy unspeakable, strength to do all I have placed in your heart, and knowledge of me that is straight from heaven."
God gave David the pattern of worship for the tabernacle:
I Chronicles 28:19 “All this, ” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.”
This same plan of worship is being rebuilt in the earth right now. David didn't stop being king to build night and day worship...thousands shared the work, because it wasn't just for David, it was for anyone who desired to draw near and agree with God. This IS Jesus plan for the Church, we are all called to it. God's desire is that each of us would have hearts after His own...hearts like David...to each enter in to gazing on His beauty, singing in His presence, being strengthened by, and declaring, new revelations of His glory, agreeing with His plans, and releasing His judgments upon the earth...mixing our prayers with the incense of the heavenly worship order. The new song from earth will release the judgment of Jesus, not to destroy, but to redeem:
Psalms 40:3 He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord .
