Interaction

Night and day, there is an amazing interaction between God and His creation in heaven. When I gaze upon this place in my heart, I start to receive revelation of God's heart and being:

Revelation 4:2-11 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”

This description of the throne room of God is so full of information. It takes the help of the Holy Spirit...the one described in the passage as "seven lamps of fire" ...to illuminate the intense meaning woven into this scene.

There is One on the throne. In this passage we obtain great insight on who God is. This is the scene where the Son of Man...the Lamb...Jesus comes in to take the scroll from the Fathers hand. All three persons of the Trinity are here. The Father on the throne, Jesus sits at His right hand making intercession for us, and the living flame of love, the Holy Spirit, is out in front mingled over the sea of glass, where God's beloved, His royal family...you and I and every saint in heaven...stand before the Father.

This picture of the Father is wonderfully captivating. The sardius of antiquity was like a bright red ruby sparkling and fiery red. The jasper was clear and bright like a diamond. This reveals the Father's bright holiness...brighter than the sun, but red with desire. Desire to know and love His creation, and to be known. Red with fierce jealousy for His people...the object of His creation. He made us to be with Him. God with man is His deep desire, that we would be part of the fellowship of fire, shared between the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit:

John 17:21-23 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

The fiery desire of God is filtered through a green rainbow. It isn't raining in heaven. The rainbow is the covenant sign of mercy between God and man since the flood. It is green with life-giving mercy. Here we see the origin of the burning bush. Consuming fire bringing lush green life to anyone willing to come near, take off our sandals and stand on holy ground. Anything dead and dry we let God consume is given back to us green and alive.

God has surrounded Himself with His creation. He isn't high up and alone, sending out orders to His army! No! He is surrounded by elders and angels. He has setup thrones for men next to His throne. He isn't jealously guarding His power and authority, but instead sharing it with mankind. Who is this fiery God who desires us so much!!??

Sounds like thunder, and flashes of His power like lightning ...voices...music...these proceed from His throne day and night. He releases revelation day and night...merciful song...flashes of power, breaking into my circumstance day and night. Not aloof and silent, but intimately involved in what He has made!

Immediately before Him is a sea of glass like crystal. This is the convocation place in heaven. All can stand here that belong to the lamb. When Jesus paid the price of sin on the cross, He made the way into the Holy of Holies...the temple curtain was torn as a sign. THIS is the Holy of Holies in heaven. All may come boldly to this throne room. When i let my heart travel here during worship or prayer, I really stand on that sea of glass with the saints of old, and loved ones gone before me. We all worship on this sea before the throne:

Revelation 15:2-3 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!

Closest to God are the Seraphim....the burning ones...the living creatures. Everyone that draws near to this throne is burning with life. They are covered in eyes...built to see. Day and night they cry out new revelations of God's beauty. Holy, holy, holy. Holy here doesn't mean obedience to the law! These burning ones are crying out "wholly other than everything else!" "His beauty is overwhelming. He isn't like anything else. Beauty that goes beyond anything else known...transcendent beauty!" Night and day, these creatures made to see get a new fresh glimpse of the Father's glory and declare it to the congregation. When they do, all the others are overwhelmed with the revelation of God and spontaneous worship proceeds out like a wave from the throne. Wave after wave of glorious revelation...day and night...night and day...

All who draw near to God see more. This is an invitation. Do you want to see more? Come near. Get eyes to see and ears to hear. Let the lamp of Spirit show you the way. As they declare what they see, worship rises up in the heart of man. All are invited to come as close as we want. Lesser glory fights night and day for our attention, but if we will ask, the seven-fold spirit of fire will shed light on this amazing scene. Building night and day worship is the act of bringing earthly agreement to this scene!

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
