The Role of the Bride
The Church, Jesus' Bride, has a glorious role in Jesus' plan to win the hearts of God's people, Israel. The end-time night and day worship movement promised to be raised up before Jesus returns is central to this role:
Isaiah 62:6-7 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord , do not keep silent, And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Amos prophesied that the rebuilt tabernacle of David, that 24 hour night and day worshiping and praying expression of the Bride, will intercede for Israel as a primary focus...giving the Lord no rest until He makes Jerusalem a praise in the nations at the end of the events of Revelation:
Amos 9:11-12 “On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the Lord who does this thing.
The New Jerusalem that comes out of heaven, and the earthly Jerusalem will be the capital of Jesus' promised kingdom coming to earth...a praise in the nations! But Jesus promised He would not return to accomplish this until the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem invite Him back as Messiah:
Matthew 23:37-39 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord !’ ”
This happens just before the 7th trumpet in Revelation 11. Paul said Jesus will return, and His Bride will be caught up with Him and all the saints of old, not to go off to heaven somewhere, but to go into battle with Jesus to liberate Jerusalem from the antichrist who has plundered the city for 1,260 days. This happens at the last trumpet...the 7th trumpet of Revelation:
I Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Right now, Israel is far from accepting Jesus as Messiah, or trusting Him to protect her from all of her surrounding enemies...in fact, she is on the cusp of making a "treaty with death" in an effort to preserve herself from the quickly changing political tide against her:
Isaiah 28:14-19 Therefore hear the word of the Lord , you scornful men, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem, Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” Therefore thus says the Lord God : “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it. As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.”
This "covenant with death" is the agreement that Israel will make with the antichrist...a 7 year agreement to trust him for protection, even though he hates her and is going to use that very covenant to take over Jerusalem. Antichrist will then demand Israel, and all the world, worship him:
Daniel 9:27 The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.”
Jesus said that when this happens, Israel should get out of town, because the antichrist is going to initiate the worst tribulation the earth has ever seen...centered on Jerusalem...which will last 1,260 days. This is all because satan is trying to avoid Jesus' return. When Jesus returns, satan goes to prison:
Matthew 24:15-21 “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about—the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.” (Reader, pay attention!) “Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat. How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again.
Revelation 20:1-2 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain in his hand. He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years.
The Bride will pray and intercede for Israel this whole time. The Bible is clear that 1/3 of the Jewish people will get out of town and be protected in the wilderness surrounding Judea for the 1,260 days. We will publicly intercede for her leading up to, and through, this time. This is because Jesus' Bride will care about Israel like Jesus does. In fact, Jesus promises that when Israel sees our love, they will see Jesus' love. This is what will cause them to mourn their rejection of Him and invite Him back as the Messiah!
Romans 11:1, 11, 13-14, 25-26 I ask, then, has God rejected his own people, the nation of Israel? Of course not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham and a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves.
I am saying all this especially for you Gentiles. God has appointed me as the apostle to the Gentiles. I stress this, for I want somehow to make the people of Israel jealous of what you Gentiles have, so I might save some of them. I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ. And so all Israel will be saved. As the Scriptures say, “The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem, and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness.
Zechariah 12:1-3, 7-10 This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord : “This message is from the Lord , who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit. I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves. “The Lord will give victory to the rest of Judah first, before Jerusalem, so that the people of Jerusalem and the royal line of David will not have greater honor than the rest of Judah. On that day the Lord will defend the people of Jerusalem; the weakest among them will be as mighty as King David! And the royal descendants will be like God, like the angel of the Lord who goes before them! For on that day I will begin to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. “Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died.
The Bride, Jesus' companion who is not a nation, will worship and intercede for Israel, and demonstrate our relationship with Jesus through the outpouring of signs and wonders...the Joel 2:28-32 pouring out of the Spirit on all flesh in the most intense time of human history...when Israel sees it is Jesus Bride standing for her, and filled with the power of God, literally cutting off her enemy through the power of night and day intercession, Israel will be provoked to jealousy and mourning and invite Jesus back! This will cause satan...the dragon...to rage against the Bride. But He WILL lose, and we will overcome...by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!
Revelation 12:13-17 When the dragon realized that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle so she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness. There she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time. Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood of water that flowed from his mouth. But the earth helped her by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that gushed out from the mouth of the dragon. And the dragon was angry at the woman and declared war against the rest of her children—all who keep God’s commandments and maintain their testimony for Jesus.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
