Birth
Jesus said the finishing of God’s plans to prepare the earth for the restoration of all things is like a baby being born. The coming of Jesus is often called “that day” in the Bible and that day comes like the development and birth of a child. It is conceived, and developed, and finally born at the right time.
What Peter and the other disciples witnessed at Pentecost, when the Spirit came like a rushing wind and flames of fire, was the “conception” of the outpouring the Holy Spirit. Since the day the Spirit fell 2,000 years ago the outpouring has been available, is available, and will be more fully available as “that day,” the day of the opening of the sixth seal, approaches. What was conceived at Pentecost is supposed to be developing like an infant in the womb, growing in the likeness and character of what will cover the earth at the time of delivery. More is available now than was available at Pentecost, and more will be available as we get closer and close to that day. What started as a healing outside the temple in Jerusalem will culminate with the fulfilling of the promise Jesus made to His disciples:
John 14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Because God has committed to love, He has also committed to free will. Therefore, the signs and wonders of the outpouring currently available won’t just “show up.” They need to be contended for…asked for. I want a vision of what it means to be “in Christ” that is more than not going to hell. I need a vision of life empowered by a very active, alive, interesting, and zealous Holy Spirit just waiting to begin incrementally giving me what I ask for! Miraculous signs and wonders have been available in an ever increasing measure since the day of Pentecost. However, if no one asks for them, no one will receive them:
James 4:2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
James goes on to say that what the Church was asking for was earthly, temporary, and passing stuff. A lack of vision of what is available in the progressive fulfilling of the positive aspects of prophecy, as well as a lack of vision of what is coming in the form of the negative aspects of the progressive fulfilling of prophecy, is what leads to living in boredom, which leads to the lust, murder, covetousness, fighting, and war.
If we could get a vision for the fascinating quality of life available for the taking if we would set our hearts to press in to receive gifts of healing, gifts of prophecy, gifts of teaching, gifts of multiplication to fill areas of lack in other's lives, musical gifting, knowing the deep things of God in a unique way…if we were a people unwilling to back down until we get what we asked for…we would quickly find the petty issue of life fade away. We would no longer be walking in the yawning boredom of waiting to die before we would really be happy “in Christ.” We wouldn’t be so tempted to try in vain to make ourselves temporarily happy outside of Christ, waiting until we die to let Him live, and move, and make Himself the source of our being. Jesus paid for us to have life in full NOW, but many imagine really living when they die!
Revelation 1:19-20 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. (20) The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.
The fulfillment of the positive and negative aspects of prophecy...the development and birth of what has been, what is, and what must take place after this...in the final generation is intended to wake up the Bride, take her eyes off of the world’s ways, and fully fascinate her with what has been available all along. When she begins to press in to this, she will find Jesus has been walking among the lampstands of the Churches all along, patiently waiting until the Bride would say yes to the amazing gift in His heart to give her. When She begins to experience this fascinating life intended to be born in a time of intensity, she will press in to hasten the day of His coming:
2 Peter 3:11-12 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, (12) looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
