Fear of The Lord
This is what it means to learn the fear of the Lord:
Mark 4:35-41 NKJV
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Jesus allowed a storm to form all around his friends and rested in it while only an arms length from them. Jesus' disciples were provoked, by the very storm their loving master allowed to stir up, to respond...to decide what they feared more....the power of the storm or the power of the one who made it. The truth of the moment definitively demonstrated the one sleeping in the boat was greater than any storm. They walked away from that moment saying the same thing Job said after God allowed a storm to form in His life:
Job 42:5-6 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.”
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The end time tribulation IS a storm. It requires preparation. Matthew 5,6, and 7 is the handbook for how to prepare for the storm. If you do it...if you fear the Lord more than than missing out on "life"...this is what you can expect:
Matthew 7:24-25 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
If you do not fear the Lord more than missing out on what everyone else seems to be going after, the storm will still come...guaranteed...but this is what you should expect...this is a message to Christians...those who "hear these sayings" of Jesus:
Matthew 7:26-27 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
God has demonstrated time and time again that He allows storms to form to demonstrate His power and to teach the fear of the Lord. If you chose to fear the Lord before the storm, the storm is no problem for you. If you choose to ignore the truth about the coming storm...your fall will be great. This is describing the falling away.
The storm IS Jesus' love. The Tribulation is a gift from God to help His Church respond before the trouble of the Great Tribulation starts. It is only a pure and spotless Bride who has made herself ready that will be joined with a pure and spotless groom forever. You make yourself ready with the help of the storm...just like Jesus' disciples. If you know the Groom, then you know there is no storm bigger than Him. He is not afraid of the Tribulation or the Great Tribulation...it is just another storm He is allowing to form that He might teach anyone who loves Him the fear of the Lord. If you love Him, you will obey Him and get ready.
Jesus commands the wind and the waves...but He woos the hearts of people. He didn't make His disciples "be still"...they had to pick that on their own...
Revelation 19:7-8 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
