Testing
This is a test...this is only a test...
Right now, the world is taking part in a test. It is the final week before everything is about to change...permanently.
Jesus is coming back.
Lots of people believe that, but very few find out what that really means. He is coming for YOUR wedding. Do you really wanna be with Him forever?
Can you imagine if your most favorite person ever had been gone for months, and they are finally coming home? They call you ahead of time and leave you a message with their planned itinerary for the trip home...they need your assistance... but you never listen to the message. You don't even know when to meet them at the airport.
You love they are coming home! You LOVE them, but their plans...they seem so complicated. Your beloved is pretty smart...and you are so busy...it will all work out...right?
It will work out. Jesus IS really smart. But how will it work out for you?
Ignoring the coming of the one you claim to love the most...That isn't love. That isn't really even nice. Even if some relative you didn't like that much was planning a visit, you would find out what their plans were. How much more should we delight in the plans of the one who owns it all, loves us, saved us, and washed us clean?
Jesus is coming back, and His Bride is supposed to help get the earth ready for His return. Almost all of us say "these are the last days"...but few delight in His plans to return, even fewer study them and are ready to do their part. If you don't know the work plan you are not ready for the harvest. He has laid out all the plans. He wants to explain them to us. Do we actually love His appearing and all it entails?
II Timothy 4:8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Crowns are for people that LOVE His appearing. Not everybody that names the name of Jesus is getting a crown. According to Jesus, Paul, and the other writers of the New Testament many are not even going to make it to the wedding!
Matthew 24:9-14 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.
Paul...the guy who wrote a large portion of the New Testament...He worked for a crown...he kept His mind focused on the coming of Jesus. A huge portion of the Gospel...the most important part, really... is that Jesus is coming back. All the guys who wrote the Bible kept that in the forefront. They really did. They knew that they were living for a test: "Do I really believe life is better with God no matter what is happening around me?"
We live in the generation of the final test. For centuries, each person took this test at their own pace...70 or 80 years to figure out your answers. But in one generation, everyone is going to have to take the test at the same time. This is making the earth very intense. This global test all happens in the last 7 years...the 70th week of Daniel 9...we call it the tribulation. It is the test that we are seeing being administered even right now: earthquakes, pestilence, martyrdom, police states rising up, wars rumors of wars...class, please sit down, we are beginning...this is a fire allowed by Jesus to test what we really are all about:
I Corinthians 3:11-15 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
The Day = the Day of the Lord = the tribulation. Paul said the day would test your work. That is because the test is really testing your faith. Do you really put your weight on Jesus? That is what is being tested right now...even now. Saying "I love Jesus , so I am sure He will save me" and then doing nothing to agree with HOW He promises to save people really isn't going to cut it. If you really love Him, you would be growing in your obedience:
1 John 2:3-4 And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.
Faith without works is truly dead, and the events of the world are already seeing what your life is made of:
James 2:17-20 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
The end time test is a two-part test. There is a pre-test, called the tribulation...we are in that part right now and a huge portion of the body of Christ is being chased and killed as evidence of that...then there is the final exam, called the Great Tribulation. This will test the whole earth at once:
Matthew 24:21-22 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
Jesus was quoting Daniel 12 in this passage. Jesus and Daniel both said the Great Tribulation...the final test... begins with the setting up of the statue, called the abomination, in the Holy place of the temple mount. Because so many, out of fear of punishment, will worship it, it will desolate a huge portion of the earth. This will be a very hard test. At the threat of the loss of your home, your kids future, your ability to work or buy food, your loss of reputation and social standing...at the threat of the loss of all these things...the government's of the earth will attempt to coerce you into taking part in the new currency and worshiping the antichrist through his statue:
Revelation 13:15-17 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
This is a very hard test, but this is the only correct response:
Daniel 3:1, 16-18 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon...
...Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
Those boys were ready for that test. They got ready in advance. They passed the pre-test, which made them ready for the real deal. As soon as Daniel and these friends of his arrived in Babylon, they began fasting and praying so that they might stand up to the schemes of demons and evil leaders:
Daniel 1:7-8, 11-12 To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego. But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. So Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.
The Bible is clear that fasting and praying together with the others in your location is the pretest for the end times, too.
What happened to Daniel and his friends in Babylon was a picture of what is happening globally right now. When you see the revived caliphate taking more territory, you gotta get ready. It is time to start the pre-test...it is time to fast and pray corporately as a lifestyle, not an event. The pretest isn't just skipping lunch once a week and trying to remember to cover your family in prayer...no...it is a global "upper room" experience, gathering together in one accord for the power to come to gather in the final harvest.
The end time Church gathering together in one accord in repentance...trading our so called lives for an all in response to the trouble of the hour...that is the only plan. If you do this, if you teach your kids to do this...if you put the rest of life on hold...even the priests and the pastors and the elderly and the 20 somethings...then God will protect you through the real test...the Great Tribulation which is promised to be worse than anything the earth has ever seen...worse than Nazi Germany, or the Rwandan genocide...worse than Katrina or the Japanese earthquake, or Haiti...worse...it is coming for sure. I believe the coalescing of these events is years, not decades away, and honestly the news is on my side...clearly.
If you want your family, church, and community to be safe, start taking this pre-test seriously:
Joel 2:8-18 They never jostle each other; each moves in exactly the right position. They break through defenses without missing a step. They swarm over the city and run along its walls. They enter all the houses, climbing like thieves through the windows. The earthquakes as they advance, and the heavens tremble. The sun and moon grow dark, and the stars no longer shine. The lord is at the head of the column. He leads them with a shout. This is his mighty army, and they follow his orders. The day of the lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive? That is why the lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of this curse. Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine to the lord your God as before. Blow the ram’s horn in Jerusalem! Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting. Gather all the people— the elders, the children, and even the babies. Call the bridegroom from his quarters and the bride from her private room. Let the priests, who minister in the lord's presence, stand and weep between the entry room to the Temple and the altar. Let them pray, “Spare your people, lord ! Don’t let your special possession become an object of mockery. Don’t let them become a joke for unbelieving foreigners who say, ‘Has the God of Israel left them?’” Then the lord will pity his people and jealously guard the honor of his land.
God claims responsibility for allowing the trouble. The tribulation is HIS planned test. It is intended to see what people who claim to love Jesus REALLY believe. Judgment starts in God's house:
I Peter 4:17-19 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
What is your response to the news of the day? Turn it off? Look away? Distract yourself with something more fun? Don't worry, it will all magically "be ok."? These are ALL un-Biblical responses. Jesus said WATCH, PRAY and BE READY!
If you want to agree with God, you must INTENTIONALLY respond in the only way prescribed in the Bible...fasting and prayer as a lifestyle. This has always been the Biblical response to times of judgment. All the great ones we read about in the Bible did this. You can't seriously expect that suddenly God has changed the way He does stuff so you don't have to be uncomfortable, right? Jesus paid the price so we wouldn't do the things of God alone, not so that we wouldn't do them at all!
There is time. You can let the news move you. You can watch and let that lead you to pray as the solution for you, your family, and your community. That IS what it takes...praying personally, as a family, and a community ... intentionally... as YOUR answer to the trouble. The ones who do this ARE the ones Jesus is returning to:
Luke 18:1-8 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
Jesus wants you to respond because this is the simple truth of the Gospel: you hold the answer to the world problems in your mouth!
Interceding as your only real answer is what will begin the process of getting the earth ready to receive Jesus. If you don't do that, it will go much worse for you and those around you:
Ezekiel 22:30-31 “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one. So now I will pour out my fury on them, consuming them with the fire of my anger. I will heap on their heads the full penalty for all their sins. I, the Sovereign lord , have spoken!”
God is orchestrating the events of the earth to GET YOU TO CRY OUT. You can pray and let that make you ready. If you don't respond now, and build an ark of prayer and worship...a tabernacle of safety... God will allow you to have a better reason to cry out (that is not good).
Turn to Him now, while there is time:
Revelation 3:10-13 “Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.
Right now, the world is taking part in a test. It is the final week before everything is about to change...permanently.
