Obstacles

The Bible promises over and over some basic obstacles for believers in the end times. One of those obstacles are false teachers. False teachers are promised to increase as the return of Jesus nears.

2 Peter 2:1But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

2And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

3By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

The Bible is clear about the main motivation of false teachers in the end time: money. Beware of teachers...and there are many...who are trying to sell you readiness for the return of Jesus.

If you haven't studied the Biblical promises of the end times, it is easy to over simplify the motivations of people and create two false camps: good guys and bad guys. This distinction is not present in the Bible. Instead, the Bible is telling the story of sifting desire by everyone getting what it is they really want.

Some "good" people that name the name of Jesus, go to church, feed the poor, and heal the sick...some of these want bad things...and, some people living in darkness, what many would call bad, really are hungry for truth. God judges sin by giving people what they want and exposing the fruit of desire.

The end times are the story of the harvest...the maturing of desire. Both the wheat and the tares will emerge, but their roots are intertwined....the wheat and the tares live in the same houses, work in similar jobs, go to the same restaurants and bars, and the same churches:

Matthew 13:27“So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’

28“He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’

29“But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.

There aren't good guys and bad guys...there are good desires and bad desires. In the end times, these buds of desire will blossom into fruit. Once you know what to look for, it is easy to spot false teachers by their fruit. This is the only way to spot them:

Matthew 7:15“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

16“You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

17“Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

18“A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

19“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20“Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

22“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’

23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

The desire for money will drive many to take advantage of fearful times IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

As Jesus allows more intensity to come, the culture will be stirred and polarized...in this, some will see the opportunity for gain. You can see it already: the selling of survival kits, survival seminars, seeds, food, investment strategies, conferences on man-based strength strategies to survive the end times...political action committees....books....clubs...members...

At the root of all of it is a desire for money. If you really knew how to call the last generation into safety, spotlessness and purity, you wouldn't make the main requirement being able to buy it.... If you knew the truth, then you would know that this is a once in creation opportunity to shine in glory forever for not just yourself, but anyone who wants purity:

Daniel 12:3Those who are wise shall shine

Like the brightness of the firmament,

And those who turn many to righteousness

Like the stars forever and ever.

4“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

Knowledge has increased. the internet has made it possible for a guy like me to preach to hundreds every day, but it has also made it possible for a preacher to reap the wealth of thousands across the globe daily...selling people what they do not need, and distracting them from what will truly make them safe. False security is for sale...you can't buy real safety...

The opportunity before us....the Tribulation before us...and the purity that fire will produce...is the greatest gift ever offered to a group of people short of salvation through Jesus. Friends of the Bridegroom are emerging, but so are those who would literally rape the Bride and take all she has and still leave her in fear.

If someone is trying to teach you any life saving truth and sell you something at the same time...if someone is using the fear of what is coming to get you to open your wallet to them, beware. Not all of them are false teachers, but this is the sign the Bible gives over and over. Conversely, If you are hoping to make a living on the return of Jesus, be very sure you are abiding in His instructions...many hearts will be lifted up and fall in this hour. Many crowns will be lost:

Revelation 3:10“Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

11“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.

Money will be at the root of much evil in the events surrounding the return of Jesus. The love for money will cause many to lose crowns labored for for years before the lifting of restraint.

Matthew 24:8“All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

10“And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

11“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

12“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

13“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

This was one of the main warnings of the end times both in the old and new testaments:

Isaiah 10:1“Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees,

Who write misfortune,

Which they have prescribed

2To rob the needy of justice,

And to take what is right from the poor of My people,

That widows may be their prey,

And that they may rob the fatherless.

3What will you do in the day of punishment,

And in the desolation which will come from afar?

To whom will you flee for help?

And where will you leave your glory?

Isaiah warned of those who would preach fear to gain money. Trouble IS coming. Desolation is coming, but woe to those who use it to gain wealth and steal true wealth from the Bride by short-circuiting a true response..for an hour these false teachers will increase...they will get what they want...but, where will they store it up as God sweeps it right out of their hands?

To agree with Jesus' plan for the end times begins in the interior of the inner man. It is important to learn for yourself what the Spirit is saying as you read the word. This is how you will know good fruit: does what the teacher is saying make you want to love Jesus more, and give up distractions to hear Him better. Does the fruit produce a longing for His return or a dread of it unfolding?

Many cults have started around end time truth. An easy way to guard yourself against this is to follow some basic common sense rules: don't quit anything, join anything, buy anything, or sell anything as a way to express your agreement with Jesus' end time plans.. Instead: turn your heart to Him with all of your strength...learn to hear Jesus with confidence for yourself. Let Jesus tell you what to get rid of, or what to take on...let Jesus tell you who is sharpening you and who is dulling you. If you abide in Jesus, you will bear good fruit. If you abide in any other teacher, you will bear their fruit.

Desire is maturing and what is promised to happen is a great increase in spiritual intensity. Fruit is being revealed daily...there is a harvest of desolation and a harvest of righteousness. It is important to know the difference!

Isaiah 55:1“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,

Come to the waters;

And you who have no money,

Come, buy and eat.

Yes, come, buy wine and milk

Without money and without price.

2Why do you spend money for what is not bread,

And your wages for what does not satisfy?

Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,

And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

3Incline your ear, and come to Me.

Hear, and your soul shall live;

And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—

The sure mercies of David.

4Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people,

A leader and commander for the people.
