Prophecy

It is important to not over-develop prophecies. No one knows for sure what is going to happen. That is the point of the prophecy, to get our wonder to stir us up to reach for God.

A couple of essential points:

1. Watch for how Biblical prophecy IS happening, not how it isn't (that is called doubt).

2. Want to see it happen. Wanting to see something happen is the very basic foundation of faith. Many watch prophecy hoping it won't happen. That is faithless watching.

1 Thessalonians 5:20Do not despise prophecies.

21Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Noah wanted to see that flood. He knew God's goodness way better than anyone that didn't want the flood to come.

Hebrews 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

7By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Many will miss, and be crushed by, the return of Jesus because they simply didn't want to see all the tribulation prophecies connected to his return be fulfilled. The trap prophecy teachers, and those that follow them, fall into is they start to believe their own dim seeing is more reliable than the vagueness of the Word itself. You don't want to believe the interpretation of prophecy is more solid than the intentionally vague word of God. An opinion of what a prophecy means is good, as long as we always see it as only a human opinion. We need to stay soft and teachable as we watch prophecy unfold. That is the point of the prophecy!!!

The only thing worse than over-developing prophecy is not developing it at all! Many have zero hunger to even watch prophecy. Woe to them! The words were expensive! Most of the prophets were killed for saying them. We have to care about the Words, but not take them beyond the truth!

God is good. His plans are wise. They always succeed. Prophecies almost always are unveiling a process. It takes patience and faith to discern a process unfolding.

Isaiah 28:21For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim,

He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon—

That He may do His work, His awesome work,

And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.

22Now therefore, do not be mockers,

Lest your bonds be made strong;

For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts,

A destruction determined even upon the whole earth.

23Give ear and hear my voice,

Listen and hear my speech.

24Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow?

Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods?

25When he has leveled its surface,

Does he not sow the black cummin

And scatter the cummin,

Plant the wheat in rows,

The barley in the appointed place,

And the spelt in its place?

26For He instructs him in right judgment,

His God teaches him.

27For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge,

Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin;

But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick,

And the cummin with a rod.

28Bread flour must be ground;

Therefore he does not thresh it forever,

Break it with his cartwheel,

Or crush it with his horsemen.

29This also comes from the LORD of hosts,

Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.
