False Vs. Inaccurate Prophecy
(Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see this His way (not my way or yours) before you read. He will if you ask)
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 NLT — “Suppose there are prophets among you or those who dream dreams about the future, and they promise you signs or miracles, and the predicted signs or miracles occur. If they then say, ‘Come, let us worship other gods’—gods you have not known before— do not listen to them. The LORD your God is testing you to see if you truly love him with all your heart and soul. Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. The false prophets or visionaries who try to lead you astray must be put to death, for they encourage rebellion against the LORD your God, who redeemed you from slavery and brought you out of the land of Egypt. Since they try to lead you astray from the way the LORD your God commanded you to live, you must put them to death. In this way you will purge the evil from among you.
False prophecy is determined by fruit. Inaccurate prophecy is determined by results.
*False prophecy must be dealt with by "putting an end to" the lie. This happens spiritually, not physically, by speaking truth in love.
*Inaccurate prophecy should be disregarded.
Deuteronomy 18:19-22 NLT — I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf. But any prophet who falsely claims to speak in my name or who speaks in the name of another god must die.’ “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the LORD?’ If the prophet speaks in the LORD’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
An inaccurate prophet need not be feared. A false prophet is confronted, in truth, in love, as led by the Holy Spirit.
(Because the human flesh is impatient, it is unwilling to wait, or try to see in faith, how a true prophecy is accurate. If you disregard a prophet you think is inaccurate because you try to evaluate their prophecy in the flesh, God will eventually use your disregard of the prophet (unbelief) to judge you. You have to be Spirit-led in evaluating prophecy. It is designed to test those who claim to want to be Spirit-led. The flesh profits nothing. If a prophet is calling you to be more like Jesus, that prophecy is true, even if it appears, for the moment, to be inaccurate. All of the old testament prophets, and Jesus himself, still have prophecies that haven't been fulfilled in the natural yet. Whether or not "something happened" the way you think it should have doesn't matter to God. Faith is what matters to God.)
God never changes. There is no shadow of turning in Him.
James 1:17 NKJV — Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
There is really no difference between old covenant (Old Testament) and new covenant (New Testament) prophecy, because there is only one Spirit of Prophecy. If the Spirit of Prophecy doesn't change, prophecy doesn't change.
In the New Testament, false prophets are dealt with by speaking truth in love (the sword of the Spirit) and inaccurate prophets are disregarded:
False prophets:
Jude 1:3-5 NLT — Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.
Inaccurate prophecies:
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 NLT — Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.
Ask the Lord. It is important to get His heart on this, not your favorite teacher, group, sect, or denomination.
False prophets are increasing in the church.
Matthew 24:7-13 NLT — Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come. “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
False Christian prophets will be very accurate!! THE false prophet will even call down fire and have it work!
Inaccurate prophecies will also increase. In the middle of it all will be God's still, small, voice.
Only the meek will hear, discern, understand, and rightly apply true prophecy.
The human heart loves prophecy that doesn't apply to it, but hates true prophecy that is aimed at it.
Matthew 23:29-36 NLT — “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed. Then you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.’ “But in saying that, you testify against yourselves that you are indeed the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started. Snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell? “Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city. As a result, you will be held responsible for the murder of all godly people of all time—from the murder of righteous Abel to the murder of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed in the Temple between the sanctuary and the altar. I tell you the truth, this judgment will fall on this very generation.
The Pharisees were experts in prophecy until the point of all prophecy... The Spirit of Prophecy Himself... Jesus, came to visit them... Then they wanted to kill Him. Jesus wasn't just talking to the Pharisees. He was talking to you! The Bible was written to you.
Prophecy doesn't help you unless it's aimed at you. It always invites a course adjustment. God doesn't waste His time telling you things you don't need to hear. He's a dad. He is always shepherding us into the fullness of life if we let prophecy be aimed at us.
2 Peter 1:15-21 NLT — so I will work hard to make sure you always remember these things after I am gone. For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
Learn to discern God's voice right now, while you have time. A great increase in birthpains and heavy labor is coming.
False prophets preach false christs.
Prophecy that encourages political solutions, fear, false enthusiasm for better days, division (hatred, marginalizing, dehumanizing, of any people group, including false prophets), winning wars against our enemies... Any prophecy that doesn't call you to personally increase in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, and self control is false. Any prophecy that encourages you to fear or push verbally against your enemies, whether seen or unseen ("speaking evil of dignitaries" in Jude) any prophecy that provokes your flesh to action rather than your heart to repentance... Is false.
Digital interconnectedness is releasing a flood of prophecies, words, opinions, solutions, accusations, scoffing, mocking, jealousy, and fear. These are all invitations from your unseen enemy to react in the flesh. A Spirit of Prophecy (Holy Spirit) is available to you so you can know what is coming and respond by growing in the fruit of the Spirit before the flood rushes over you.
Fighting what you think is false with your own intellect, plans, and emotions sucks you in to being false, too! Fighting fire with fire will get everyone more fire.
You have to come out of the world, and it's way of winning.
Resisting the enemy's invitations into the flesh will create a place of refuge for you and those that follow you.
Watch. The tongue of the enemy is about to judge the church in a way you have never seen. He will speak through the church to the church and through Israel to the church, and through the world to the church. This will create a wind of confusion designed to carry away chaff.
The church will be tested by the wind of Satan's mouth coming through people.
***These people voicing the accusations and solutions of the enemy are the ones God is looking to save.*** We must love enemies, bless those who curse, pray for those that spitefully use. We must be like God.
People are never the enemy. People are who God is trying to save. Satan is the enemy and he wins *you* when you act like *him* in retaliation for the way he acts towards *you*.
Get clarity. Get understanding.
I see an unexpected storm coming.
