Steady Desire
Staying steady in desire is what opens the door to the supernatural happening in our lives. Many come and go in the excitement of a moment...in the momentum and wake of those who have stayed steady in the mundane.
...but a few...a few lock their gaze and won't quit until they taste what touched their hearts with the initial zeal. They won't be denied. They have seen too much to turn back and not enough to be satisfied. These ones are in the glorious tension of hunger! These are the ones who will burn brighter and brighter as the world gets darker and darker.
It is easy to shift back and forth with the crowds. It is faithful to press forward when the crowd is and when it isn't.
I want a locked gaze, a burning heart, and a patient gate... the story has a conclusion and it's coming... the kingdom is coming from within the steady and faithful and will consume the world and all that is in it.
The miraculous always happens suddenly...in the midst of the mundane:
Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Hebrews 11:9-12 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
Faithful in the mundane everyone else is lost in... the cares of this world...faithful in THAT is the only way you will see the kingdom coming...and it will crush everyone who claims to know but will not watch. If you knew, and you loved it, you couldn't help but watch, pray, and be ready. Radical intervention is coming, but it will be very bad for anyone not actively getting ready to agree with it:
Luke 17:20-30 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
