Political Info in the Bible Pt.1
Part 1
There is so much information in the Bible regarding the political alliances and geopolitical shifting in the years leading up to the return of Jesus. It is really staggering how much detail was given to Daniel and to John regarding the events of the day. If you have eyes to see, it is easy to begin connecting the Bible to these events. We live in a truly exciting time.
If we are the generation that will see the physical return of Jesus, and I believe we are, then we have a "once in creation" opportunity to respond with wholehearted zeal in the areas the Bible clearly lays out for this generation: to press in to a Sermon on the Mount lifestyle that hungers for obedience and loyalty to Jesus with our time, money, and energy; to join together with other's loyal to Jesus in Biblical unity in "one accord" to raise up the Tabernacle of David in all its glory and to establish our region as a "city of refuge"...a land of Goshen in the coming storm.
A storm is coming. This isn't my attempt at being prophetic, this is just common sense. You can't watch the news for 20 minutes and not see the thunder heads rolling in one after the other: human bondage in Cleveland that no one living right next door notices for 10 years, random shootings in New Orleans, an abortion nightmare scenario being tried on tv, hostages held in NJ, illegal wiretapping of the press, gun running, and then an ensuing cover up, to hide that we are arming our sworn enemies in Syria which resulted in an embassy attack in Benghazi...that is just a small sampling of the news in the last two weeks.
Add to that the obvious global economic house of cards being supported ONLY by continuously running the monetary presses by a few large superpowers. And these current politcal shiftings in the middle east:
1. The "arab spring" has literally replaced the governments in Libya, Egypt, and soon in Syria, with Muslim Brotherhood party leaders, who as their CHARTER, are committed to the destruction of Israel and establishing a world-wide Islamic theocracy called the Caliphate. (Friends, we are schizophrenically arming and empowering people bent on the destruction of the very ideal of American freedom and liberty. This isn't conspiracy theory, this is simply the news no one seems to care about anymore.)
2. Israel has softened her stance to the point she is willing to make peace under just about any terms. She can read the writing on the wall and see it's either make peace with a two-state solution now, or let population growth and the arab spring make one non-Jewish state, OR a permanent police state, later.(This is historic)
3. The arab league has softened their stance on peace and are, for the first time since 1967, willing to consider land swaps to make a two-state solution workable. (This is historic)
4. The US is feverishly trying to broker a deal in Israel that, AND, because Lindsay Lohan has been sober for a few weeks, our press is asleep at the wheel, and our domestic culture is literally melting down, NO ONE has seemed to notice the historic moves taking place.
Jesus likened this time to the birth of a child. Jesus' return is what is being birthed, and the labor is real. Most women don't casually go into labor. They rearrange their schedules, set apart some time, get their house in order so they can focus on what really matters.
If this is a birth, we are no longer in the Braxton-Hicks birth pains phase, we are literally in the contractions...closer and closer together....intensity building...more and more predictable.
Jesus said this about the response of His followers to the increase in these events:
Mark 13:35-37 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
Jesus wasn't saying "watch, I'm coming to remove you from the trouble." No! He was saying "watch, you need to fill your lamp with oil to endure the long night of trouble! Before it starts"
Matthew 25:3-13 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘ No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
