Peace in Israel

There is a lot of confusion in Jesus' body about peace in Israel. We tend to think of all peace as good. So, when we hear of peace talks in Israel, we tend to think that must be a good thing. It is important to understand God's perspective of what is happening...what He has written to this generation, so we can understand what is happening and how to pray into it.

Jesus is the Messiah, the promised one who would have the government resting on His shoulders in perfect love. Jesus is THE promise of peace to Israel, Jerusalem, and the earth:

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus is the One...the only one...who will be bring true peace to planet earth. It is only men working in agreement with Jesus that can even bring righteous temporary peace. Any peace not based on the Author of Peace is not righteous peace. Peace...just like goodness...is an attribute of God. It is wholly owned and distributed by God. It is a fruit of God's presence: love, joy, PEACE, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, faithfulness, and gentleness. Peace is God's, just like goodness:

Matthew 19:17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

The peace negotiations currently taking place in Israel are not based on the truth of Jesus. They are based on the logic and power of man apart from Jesus. The one person not invited to the table is the One who owns peace. This is prophesied. In fact, a two-state solution is prophesied to be brokered by the anti-christ. He is going to divide the land...that belongs to God...for His own gain:

Daniel 11:39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.

This is the antichrist's MO. He is a redistributor of wealth, by nature. He takes things that aren't his, and promises them to others in order to increase his own power. The Bible states this clearly in several places. Antichrist trades power...power that isn't his...for loyalty to himself. This is a hallmark of satan's influence. This is how satan got 1/3 of the angels to rebel. Anytime power is being traded for loyalty, you can bet it isn't based on God. God is a father...He gives freely of Himself, authority to use His power, to His children.

Israel has been warned about the coming peace treaty for thousands of years. They are supposed to trust God...the Messiah...for peace, but they are going to put their trust in a man to protect them. This man will say "I will be your Father and protector. Make peace and I will uphold you if anyone threatens you." Little do they know he is the world's best liar, and though he is trying to look like a messiah himself, he is actually a vicious beast on the inside. He wants to control the land, and he will use "peace" to get his foot in the door. God calls the coming peace a "treaty with death." This is not a good thing. The coming peace treaty for Israel is not something Christians should agree with. God does not want it, but He will not violate the free will of His people. Everyone gets what they want, and the Bible says Israel is going back to "Egypt"...trusting in a slave driver to protect her rather than God.

Israel knows that the tide is rising against her...she knows that an overflowing scourge is coming. Rather than trust invisible God, she is placing her bets on the best looking horse. Little does she know he is in league with those who hate her...he is collaborating secretly, and not so secretly, with those sworn to her destruction. Why would she trust a man aiding and abetting her enemies all around her??

Isaiah 28:15-18 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” Therefore thus says the Lord God : “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it.

This is the peace treaty Daniel talked about in Daniel 9:26-27. It will be backed by a time-limited security guarantee by the antichrist's nation. 7-years they will commit to protect Israel like their own land. This will enable Israel to build the third temple...the tribulation temple. This is a weird temple. It calls for discernment. John is told to measure it. God didn't tell John to measure the temple because he wanted him to know how big it was...he wanted John to study it, to discern what was really going on with it. It would result in the necessity of the two greatest prophets, the two witnesses, to come and prophesy and give direction throughout the great tribulation. Israel's treaty with death and the resulting temple will cause global confusion:

Revelation 11:1-3 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

This will be such a confusing time. The whole world will declare "peace peace...this man has brought peace"...but little do they know the man of peace actually worships war and the power it brings him. The antichrist is planning to bring sudden destruction:

I Thessalonians 5:2-5 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

Christians are supposed to know the nuances...the Bride is supposed to be a faithful witness..agreeing with God. Loving what God loves and hating what He hates...Saying what He says.

There is a man trying to be the messiah to Israel. When He signs a 7-year commitment to be her protector...to manipulate her into his plans with a promise to be her savior, he is actually stepping into the role of the antichrist. The man who chooses to be antichrist goes from being a man to being the "son of perdition" WHEN He confirms the 7-year covenant. Antichrist won't overtly hate Jesus...Just like Hitler claimed to be a Christian. "Anti" means alternative to...antichrist offers himself as an alternative to the invisible messiah, promising a peace solution based on humanity's strength. We don't want to pray for his success in making peace.

So how do we pray for Israel in this incredibly unique time?

Matthew 6:9-10 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
