Shavout
Love this article. We were praying for night and day prayer and worship in Israel at KHOP last night, specifically for the Church there, but this is also an answer!
Shavout is also known as Pentecost. Those first Jews pulling an all-nighter on Shavout...staying up out of loyalty to Jesus, came to 9 am, and BAM, the Spirit fell. Because many assumed they had partied all night, they accused them of being drunk!
Acts of the Apostles 2:1-8, 12-13 On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. They were completely amazed. “How can this be?” they exclaimed. “These people are all from Galilee, and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages!... ....They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each other. But others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “They’re just drunk, that’s all!”
The heart of God's chosen people is still to press in to God. Praying that many eyes will be opened to the One who could meet them with power this Shavout...praying for a powerful Pentecost experience to fall on Israel this Shavout.
Night and day is important to God...always...
Nehemiah 1:6 listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you. Yes, even my own family and I have sinned!
Esther 4:16 “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”
1 Thessalonians 3:10 Night and day we pray earnestly for you, asking God to let us see you again to fill the gaps in your faith.
2 Timothy 1:3 Timothy, I thank God for you—the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.
Joshua 1:8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Nehemiah 4:9 But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves.
Revelation 7:15 “That is why they stand in front of God’s throne and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter.
