God's People and Politics

Every time God's people lean on politics to do the lifting of the kingdom, very bad things happen (Some prime examples are: Antiochus Epiphanes coming to power and occupying the Temple Mount, the Crusades, and the Spanish inquisition).

Jesus didn't go to the cross to then put his hope in the right politicians getting elected. If it was simply a matter of getting the right people in the right places, the perfect Son of God wouldn't have had to suffer and die.

Jesus isn't infiltrating human governments. He's crushing them.

Daniel 2:43-45 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (44) And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. (45) Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure."

How much holiness does it cost the Church to get her access to the halls of human strength?.. all of it.

Haggai 2:6-14 "For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; (7) and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. (8) 'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. (9) 'The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the LORD of hosts." (10) On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying, (11) "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Now, ask the priests concerning the law, saying, (12) "If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?" ' " Then the priests answered and said, "No." (13) And Haggai said, "If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?" So the priests answered and said, "It shall be unclean." (14) Then Haggai answered and said, " 'So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,' says the LORD, 'and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

The very nature of "Holy" is set apart...separate...different source of strength and different standard of conduct. A different evaluation of good and right that comes from above. Holy partnering with unholy makes both unholy.

Matthew 6:22-24 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. (23) But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (24) "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? (15) What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? (16) And what union can there be between God's temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: "I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be My people. (17) Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don't touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. (18) And I will be your Father, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty. "
