Shepherds Go First in Repentance

I would be very cautious of any spiritual leader who doesn't consistently testify of the need for repentance ... Specifically, their own personal repentance.

Christianity is led by shepherds. Shepherds go first. A person's words reveal their heart. If you are actively going in to holiness, and your heart is actually changing, your words should consistently reflect that.

Repentance is the core message of the Gospel, because knowing God is the core message of the Gospel. If I see Him I naturally see how I am not like Him. If I love Him, then I'm not ok being unholy in His presence. There is no good news that is separate from the message that mankind can, and must, change to get ready to meet God face to face.

If you can scroll back in a spiritual leader's messages, Twitter feed, fb page, or other social media and not quickly find their own testimony of repentance, follow someone else. They are either currently wandering themselves, or worse, leading you to someone other than Jesus.

Galatians 1:6 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News
7 but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.
8 Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.
9 I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.
10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
