Everybody Wants to Rule the World

If God establishes something, it cannot be moved.

1 Samuel 13:13-14 NKJV — And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you. For now the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. “But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.”

Saul was jealous, afraid, and uncertain.  These inner realities led Him deep into rebellion, falsely believing HE was a victim when he was actually a perpetrator.

Jealousy, self seeking, quarrelling, plotting, manipulating, fighting, positioning... These are all counter to the way God establishes authority.  God establishes authority in those who trust Him and believe in what He shows them.  He upholds those who WAIT on God.  Revelation will always put restraint on the flesh if it's truly taken in and believed:

Proverbs 29:18 NKJV — Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;

But happy is he who keeps the law.

Most people want God's kingdom, not God's kingdom ruling over them.  This is the difference between heaven and hell, antichrist and Jesus Christ, rebel and saint.

This inner rebellion is a basic principle and characteristic of all human flesh, since humans followed Satan into rebellion back in the days of Adam and Eve.

This selfishness is evident in Adam and Eve's rebellion against God.  They had it all but one thing, which was to be God Himself.  Satan also wanted that one thing.  He was willing to do anything for that one thing.

We aren't really talking about Adam and Eve though.  We are talking about you and me.

"Everybody wants to rule the world." It wasn't supposed to be this way.  The wise come out of it.

The wise recognize that this brokenness and rebellion is in them, and they begin resisting it as God sets them free and births them again by the leadership of God's Spirit, who is perfectly confident of God's leadership, timing, and power.

God will not let injustice reign forever. He is searching for the faithful.

Those being reborn in the Spirit draw on Yeshua's personality and let Him lead them into a different reality, one where resting in God is strength.  That is what the cross truly is, evidence of Jesus' trust in God's leadership.

No rebirth=no salvation

God made every person for a place in His kingdom that no one else was made to fill.  Wanting someone else's ministry, authority, relationships, history, or anointing is evil.  Manipulating myself into a position, or wishing someone else didn't have the authority God has established them is counter to the very nature of God.

God makes things new and unique. He doesn't trade power for loyalty.  The loyal find their place in His heart in humility. Confidence in His love changes the emotional chemistry of the human heart.  It takes all the self-saving, and the rebellion attached to it, off of a person's shoulders and gives them freedom to just be themselves in the presence of a perfect and powerful God.

God likes our weakness, where His strength is revealed to all of creation. We are all uniquely weak.  God LIKES establishing authority in the humble.

This is the freedom the Bible talks about.  Not freedom to do what I want.  Freedom to be who God made me to be. Unashamed. Unafraid. Confident. Loved.

This confidence in my weakness and God's strength will always bear the fruit of selflessness.  Selfless people can afford to love even enemies because they are confident in God's love for them!

Galatians 5:13-17 NKJV — For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

The wicked will always be frustrated. They are pushing on a rock that will not move.  What God establishes is so immovable that anyone that tries to move it will be cut to pieces trying.  But, those established by God are required to rest in that establishment, otherwise, they will defend themselves right out of it!!

If I build something, I have to defend it. If I defend what is built, I am not trusting God.  If God builds something, HE defends it.  It takes all the weight of being God off of me so I can confidently be God's.  This is the relationship God requires with mankind: faith.

This will ultimately find its fulfillment in those who try to remove Israel from Jerusalem.  This is a fools errand. God is establishing something through all nations.  The wise wait on God to give them their place in His kingdom.  He will. It will be better than man could establish on His own!

God loves ALL people.  Those confident in God don't have to "fix" Jerusalem. They let God have His way, and His way will bless all nations.

God wants man to submit to God, not fight God for control.  On the macro level, this will be worked out between nations. But the choice is made on the personal level.

Zechariah 12:1-4 NKJV — The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. “And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. “In that day,” says the LORD, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.

Right now is a good time to let the Lord fill me with confidence in His love.  That love will protect me from fighting the very things He is establishing, leaving me confident that if God made me, He made me for a good future.  I can let Him do the fighting and I can do the submitting.

If the whole world understood this, all fighting would cease, everyone would get what they were made for and we would all live satisfied, love-filled lives.

But, everybody wants to rule the world... For now...
