Wisdom and Truth

It is raining on the mountain

Jude 1:12 When these people eat with you in your fellowship meals commemorating the Lord's love, they are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you. They are like shameless shepherds who care only for themselves. They are like clouds blowing over the land without giving any rain. They are like trees in autumn that are doubly dead, for they bear no fruit and have been pulled up by the roots.

There are so many teachers now teaching about health and wealth. What they say sounds good, and if you look hard enough, you can find a verse to support just about any idea. Wisdom and truth are self supporting…self-evident. They are known by what they actually produce.

Are you in the valley hoping on dark clouds full of what you need that promise to blow your way and rain it down on you? Is it the promise that if you give the winds will shift the rain to you? Pour a little more of yourself into it and heaven will open? Are you crossing your eyes in focus for healing? Are you disappointed because you think with just a little more faith, the sky will burst open with wealth for you? Is a wonderful downpour of breakthrough always on the verge of happening, but you never actually feel the drops of your head? Do you measure your walk in the depth of your treasure or strength of your health? The dark clouds may or may not sprinkle what you long for on you, but I have great news: It is POURING on the mountain. It is raining where the Sermon on the Mount is lived out.

Jesus said ”seek me first, and all the rest will be given unto you.” Jesus longs to pour His treasure into our lives. His is a Treasure worth more than earthly health or wealth. The Creator of everything called it “the pearl of greatest price.” Once tasted, it is the treasure that a man would sell everything to possess. It is ours, free for the asking. When we mourn not having it, that is when He gives it. When we recognize our poverty of His presence and cry out, when we mourn not having the zeal of John the Baptist, willing to live for an audience of one…that is when the clouds burst. When we fast in secret, and give only because it pleases the invisible Author of Life, then we will feel the thunder and see the lightning. When you set your heart to resist judging others, and climb back into that desire after each trip and stumble, then hold on…the flood of His presence is heading your way. Matthew 5, 6, and 7 tell you where it is raining. There is wealth in that rain, spiritual and physical…there is healing in that rain, spiritual and physical…there is life in that rain.

The point of living the Sermon on the Mount is the vibrant spirit that comes with it…a spirit that causes your heart to come awake with the nearness of God in a sustained way…Feeling the fire of what He desires line up in agreement with my desire…that is where the drenching rain of living water is. If you are not feeling that and would like to, follow Jesus to the mountain: recognize your poverty (admit it is missing but is for you), mourn for it (ask God for it in Jesus’ name), and position your heart to receive it by fasting and giving in secret. This is a guaranteed rain maker.

Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

2Chronicles 1:7-12 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, "What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!" Solomon replied to God, "You showed faithful love to David, my father, and now You have made me king in his place. O LORD God, please continue to keep Your promise to David my father, for You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth! Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of Yours?"

God said to Solomon, "Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern My people— I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!"
