Wheat and Tares Part 1
Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
This is what the Revelation of Jesus Christ is all about: God causing all people to see the difference between His people and those rebelling against Him. Jesus intends to draw all people into a choice in one last generation.
Nearly every prophecy in the Bible finds its full expression in the Book of Revelation. Only the brilliance of God could put this true story together over thousands of years, like a painter painting a masterpiece in the solitude of his studio, only to unveil it at the time it is complete. That is what God is doing right now. Releasing insight...understanding...into what He has told His servants...His messengers to seal up in days past:
Daniel 12:9-10 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.
Speaking of this generation, the generation in Israel that will see Jerusalem surrounded by the armies of the nations led by the antichrist,God said this:
Isaiah 29:11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
Revelation 10:4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”
The events of Revelation have been written out and plain to see for thousands of years, but God told His servants many would read them, and not understand them, or that God would release the words later...this is what it means to have words "sealed."
Right now, God is progressively unsealing the prophecies in powerful ways, it you are willing to look and be taught. It is really important to understand God's clear and knowable unsealed plan in the "time of the end" because it will impact your practical day to day choices if you understand it. The Bible has a lot to say to the last generation. Over 150 chapters of the Bible primarily describe what the final generation before Jesus returns will experience, why they will experience it, and what they are supposed to do. Knowing this plan and "getting ready" will determine the degree you "suffer" or "flourish" through God's plan unfolding, but almost no one teaches this information. Many are completely illiterate about this topic, even though the Bible is clear that Jesus' followers are not only supposed to understand this information, but are supposed to teach it:
I Thessalonians 5:2-9 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Paul equated not knowing the plan and soberly getting ready for it to being "appointed to wrath." This is what John said:
Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
How do you "keep" a prophecy? You make choices that agree with it. You "get ready" to walk it out. That is what Jesus said, too:
Matthew 24:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
These are all warnings to BELIEVERS. This is plain to see from the context of these specific warnings, but also if you consider that the Bible is written TO God's people...believers. It is impossible to really grasp what the Bible says apart from the Holy Spirit. It is written in the language of the Spirit for those that are equipped by the Spirit to read it, but most believers disregard its warnings as being for unbelievers.
I Corinthians 2:11-14 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Most of the warnings in the Bible are for God's People....those actually reading the Bible. God is really smart...He knows unbelievers aren't really reading His Book, and when they do, they can't "get it"...believers are supposed to be telling unbelievers what the Book says. For believers to do that, they really need the future events it is describing "unsealed" to them.
The Bible describes two main dynamics occurring in the coming years (I personally believe the next 7 to 10 years) :
1. sin is going to mature, specifically in areas of murder (if you watch the news, this is plain to see already happening), sorcery (witchcraft...occult activity), sexual immorality (happened already, but quickly going to a whole new level), and theft (which includes the trafficking of people, primarily children and women).
Revelation 9:21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
2. Righteousness is going to mature in full, too. Communities of wholehearted followers of Jesus are going emerge. This is ENTIRELY related to night and day prayer. This IS Jesus plan to protect people in the time of judgment. The rebuilt "tabernacle of David" is going to create pockets of mercy, lands of Goshen, Cities of Refuge...places that experience the protection and blessing of the land that Israel did under David, Noah did in the ark, Goshen did in Egypt, Zoar did at the destruction of Sodom...
This is ALWAYS the plan. God never changes...He has ALWAYS protected His people in times of judgment in this same way. There is a reason for this: it is in order to "make a difference" between His people and those in rebellion. This is because He LOVES His people AND those rebelling against Him. By making a difference between the two, it gives those in rebellion tangible evidence that God is real and that agreeing with Him makes a lot of sense. God wants no one to perish. The tribulation judgments are born...designed...out of God's love to convince those in rebellion to repent. That is why they get progressively worse. Even the worst judgments are better than the final one: dwelling forever apart from the source of life, which means in fire. We save people in rebellion by helping them agree with God about the truth: that life apart from Him is simply impossible long-term.
God is going to "gather out" from among the righteous, those in rebellion, and concentrate them in the cities of the world, at the same time, He is going to gather out the righteous from the cities and move them to lands of Goshen. This is going to occur globally...every nation will experience this same dynamic: one location is for God and is being protected, another disregards God and is not protected. This is what Jesus described in the parable of the wheat and the tares. This is a geographic...not simply a spiritual reality:
Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ” Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house...
...And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.” He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
