Burning Ones
Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Right now, circling the throne of the Living God are four living creatures. They are covered with eyes. They are called "living creatures" and "burning ones." Which are they, on fire, or alive? The answer, of course, is YES! Just like the burning bush...alive and on fire with desire!
God is a consuming fire:
Deuteronomy 4:24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
He is jealous for our whole hearts, because He loves us with His whole heart. God will not love any less than fully. He is an eternal well of every good thing...the greatest of which He says is love:
I Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
God's love consumes AND brings life. He consumes everything that hinders life. Life, what God called "very good" in the garden, is God with man. He loves to be in our presence. He calls Himself "Father"...He calls Himself "Husband." These are the two closest relationships in existence. He loves to draw us near...include us in what He is all about...and then share everything He has with us! If you belong to this consuming fire, YOU HAVE IT MADE!!
The Burning Ones are closest to the Throne. Night and day they catch glimpses of God's never ending love, when they get a glimpse, they declare it in the throne room, then they have to cover their eyes...He is so brilliant and full of beauty...even these ones "made to see" can only handle a glimpse!
Isaiah 6:2-3 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”
We will never plumb the depths of God's love, because there is no end to them...He is a well of living water. The water IS love. He is a never ending source of light...in the light, love is emitted to everyone in His presence. To just be in the room with Him FEELS joyful, FEELS loving...FEELS burning with zeal, and ALIVE! Fullness of joy...pleasures ever more...
You can enter this throne room anytime because of the Blood of Jesus:
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
It is through Jesus we enter...but not scared...not timidly...not feebly...we are to place ourselves before this Father BOLDLY! When my kid's friends approach me, it is usually kind of quietly...a little timidly. They don't know me that well. They don't know how trustworthy I am. When my sons approach me, it usually involves running, a hug, a high five...maybe a headlock, if not an all-out tackle! My kids approach me boldly!
God desires that we run into the fire of His presence with an all out "love embrace." He would actually rather have the tackle than have us hiding in a corner. He is trustworthy to let us experience the joy of His presence if we will place ourselves before Him.
We place ourselves before Him by focusing on Him. Picturing Him. He designed all of us with an imagination..an internal movie screen and photo album...for a reason! Asking Him to help us enter is fine...it is expected!
James 4:2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
James was saying something super important: the dissatisfaction you feel in life is directly related to not asking God to help you get more of the kingdom. This starts right where He is...on His throne. Let us come boldly using our imaginations to place us there as we sing and worship Him!
When we worship this am, we have an amazing opportunity to come before His throne. We place our heart and spirit there simply by desiring it, and then focusing on Him. I use my imagination to picture Him in front of me, Jesus at His right hand (my left). In that room are other people...elders on thrones...the great assembly of saints on the sea of glass...loved ones who have passed through the veil. The burning ones are declaring His beauty and the rooms is responding with swells of praise...it falls back into awe and...silent awe and wonder...then a new declaration, a new swell of adoration and joy...thunder...flashes of lightning...and Jesus shouts "do you see my beloved has entered in, Father? My bride! I love him!"
This is where you can go this am if you are willing to push out the thoughts that try to steal this from you. Thoughts about what you look like, what the person on the other side of the sanctuary is looking at...what is for lunch...what the bulletin says...
He is worthy...He is worth it!
Revelation 4:9-11 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
