God's Ways

The Bible says that God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. God's wisdom is foolishness to the world, and the world's wisdom is foolishness to God.

God uses weak and broken people, like me and you, to accomplish His huge plan for the redemption of mankind. To many it seems like God is indefinitely waiting to move forward in His plans. Many, even in churches, think things have "always been this way," all the while God is steadily moving His plan along, patiently waiting for His people to come into agreement with Him.

I get so concerned with the day to day "tasks" I think need to be accomplished, while God softly sings to my heart that there is something better, something bigger that He is inviting me to be a part of. I see the meetings I have today as part of my agenda to accomplish, but God says they are divine appointments, that if I would have eyes to see, will move His agenda forward in a huge way. He doesn't force me to see it His way, though. He will let me go on and on in my own little bubble, all the while missing the point of each day: to partner with the God of the universe in what He is about.

Jesus IS about something. It has little to do with Sunday morning, and everything to do with the world you and I touch every day. He is executing a plan hatched before the beginning of time. The world is not going to go on this way indefinitely. The groan of creation is reaching a crescendo predicted thousands of years ago.

God COULD wave His hand and accomplish everything in a moment. He could sweep satan away to hell, abolish evil, appear in the sky, and change the landscape of love on the earth, with no effort at all. He is THAT powerful. But, He has decided to do it this way: bringing the objects of His love, you and I, into partnership with Him. He really refuses to do this without His people.

There will come a day when the door closes, though. Jesus told many parables regarding the accomplishment of His purposes and the end of the age. He gave signs that would mark the transition of the age and He set a deadline for agreement with Him. Over and over He urged His followers to know the time, know His time line, His plan, and where He was in His agenda. Over and over He told them BE READY!

We live in a time of decision. World events are becoming increasingly intense. We partner with Him by caring about what He cares about...finding out what He is doing and why, finding out what time it is according to Jesus, and then asking Him to bring us into agreement with His plans. Step by step, day by day.

Luke 13:20 He also asked, "What else is the Kingdom of God like? 21 It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough."

The Narrow Door

22 Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few be saved?"

He replied, 24 "Work hard to enter the narrow door to God's Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. 25 When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, `Lord, open the door for us!' But he will reply, `I don't know you or where you come from.' 26 Then you will say, `But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.' 27 And he will reply, `I tell you, I don't know you or where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil.'

28 "There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown out. 29 And people will come from all over the world—from east and west, north and south—to take their places in the Kingdom of God. 30 And note this: Some who seem least important now will be the greatest then, and some who are the greatest now will be least important then."
