The Secret Place
God delights in each "step" of our day when we set our heart to agree with Him. Even the missteps are celebrated by Jesus when our desire is to follow Him.
Jesus knows that each step dedicated to Him, even when we loose our footing, will bring us one step closer to the fullness of our experience of God. This is why He made me, to experience a life connected to Him, a life that is marked by His wisdom, power, and love. He wants me to both feel the power of them in my life, and to increase my ability to share them with others.
I see Jesus saying in Psalm 37 "if you could see how committed I am to your success, you would never worry about anything but trying to know me more!"
Jesus isn't short on power, love or wisdom. If you have committed your way to Him, His promise is that you can trust Him to bring your experience of Him to fullness. When you don't know how to follow, He knows how to lead you. He is searching for willingness, and when He finds it, His promise in return is a life of success, one marked powerfully by the experience of the wisdom of God, the love of God, and the power of God! This is such a good deal: His only condition for success is genuine willingness!
God gives food to the hungry. We demonstrate hunger, or our genuine willingness, with our words to Him. Our words to others, or in front of others, are easily faked. Our words to Him in the secret place, when it is just Him and us, these are the ones that matter most to Him. These are the quiet conversations where our genuine willingness is evident to Him, and to us.
Genuine willingness over time should lead to resolve. We feed our resolve by coming into an experience of His resolve...His commitment...to our success. By believing that what He says about His commitment to us is true (faith).
I want a strong resolve to go after experiencing God's presence like the Bible describes is possible: to hear Him on the inside of my heart, to see Him move situations at the sound of my voice (praying), and to FEEL the power of confidence in being loved by and, belonging to, the most powerful being to ever exist!
When we start to see Jesus' commitment to us, and we let it sink in that the one who holds the world in the span of His hand is completely committed to those willing to be His, we are firmly on the road to success as He defines it!
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.
Psalm 37:23 The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. 24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.
25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.
